The Sekonic Litemaster Pro L478 series are the world’s first touch-screen operated light meters with unique features for both still and motion imagers. The layout of the compact and lightweight Litemaster Pro L478DR is easy and comfortable to use. The large 2.7-inch colour screen displays ambient, flash, cine and other information in a clear and understandable way. Settings are a breeze to customise and amend by simply touching or sliding a finger over the screen. The L478DR incorporates PocketWizard wireless technology for in-meter power control of select studio flashes connected to PocketWizard ControlTL receivers as well as triggering with the entire PocketWizard wireless family. The meter also uses Sekonics DTS system that automates meter calibration to the camera in use with either Sekonic or X-Rite Brand targets or by manually inputting data to the DTS program or on the meter itself. Doesn't support any recent OS

Comments about Sekonic Litemaster Pro L478DR:
Nice idea and, as far as I can tell, the box does what it claims. The unit seems robust but looks a little cheap and the screen is naff compared to even a cheap smartphone (They're clearly different devices but the comparison is fair I think for the screen). The biggest gripe I have is the note saying it won't work fully until the firmware is updated, which you can't do if you own an even half recent Mac or PC with neither Windows 8 or OSX 10.8 supported. The response from Sekonic on various channels is 'It's a few weeks away', but that seems to have been the case for months. These are hardly cutting edge OS's so it's rather slack to allow this rather foolish failure to really take the shine of this.I kinda wish I'd bought a basic LCD type unit now but who knows, perhaps the updates will come soon and I can use all the features I paid for, or perhaps I might have a old computer in the loft!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good idea, but not 100% yet

About Me Semi-pro Photographer
This unit is capable of a lot more than I've tried yet but can only comment on my experience so far.The software was not the easiest to install (on a windows 7 PC) and it took a few attempts to update the firmware. It works well doing its basic job of taking light readings in the studio but having to use it on a lead at the moment as can't seem to get it to trigger my Bowdens heads. Thought it would as they're meant to be PocketWizard compatible but maybe not when it comes to this.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
