The super wide-angle capability of the Sigma 10-20mm zoom makes it a very powerful tool for both indoor and landscape photography. The Sigma 10-20 is designed with digital photography in mind, and is tailored to achieve outstanding results with cameras which have an APS-C sized or smaller image sensor. Aspherical lenses correct for distortion and aberration, which ensures top-quality images from edge-to-edge, across the entire zoom range. HSM equipped models make fast, quiet autofocus a reality, and the lens is capable of full-time manual focus as well. The Sigma 10-20mm has a minimum focusing distance of 24cm (9.4 inches) at all focal lengths, and is equipped with an integral Petal-type hood to block out extraneous light. More
Sigma’s DC lenses are designed for cameras with a cropped sensor. Do not put a Sigma DC lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor, such as the 5D Mark III. These are special lenses designed so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialised design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus.
HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor)
This lens uses a motor driven by ultrasonic waves to provide a quiet, high speed AF.
The exterior of this lens is EX-finished to denote the superior build and optical quality, and to enhance its appearance.

About Me Semi-pro Gig Photographer
Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:
I'm rather impressed by this lens at this price. My Pro Gig work dictates that I need low light performance gear - for that I use a Canon 6d & 24-70L. This Sigma lens I have coupled with a Nikon d7100 for landscapes which is my hobby. I have to admit that I am very happy with this lens. The corners are abit soft with stretching distortion at the 10mm end but as I tend to use vignettes to draw the eye anyway the softness/distortion is not an issue for me. I will admit also that I do use abit of sharpening in photoshop with the unsharp mask set at around 56 strength. At a 1:1 view with this small amount of sharpening I see an impressive level of sharpness and even more vitally: when printed the images look great - and surely that's what counts. I have read many reviews saying that it depends on the copy you receive as QC has not been so good with Sigma but I definitely cannot complain.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent bit of kit
Being new to sceanic photography I wanted something that was easy to use and did what it said on the box. I have used this lens on my Nikon D3200 and it takes beautiful, crisp photos. Its quality and build is equal to any of my Nikon lenses. If you are starting out like me on landscapes you will not find a better lens in this price bracket.

Good Quality Lens
I purchased this lens around six weeks ago for my Nikon D3000 and have been very happy with the results thus far. The lens is very versatile when used for interior shots providing an impressive field of view. When using flash in larger rooms at the wide end of the range, the on camera flash does not provide sufficient coverage, so a more powerful flash gun will be needed. When used for landscape / seascape shots the lens is very impressive. Good sharp images with natural colour balance. The build quality seems good, very solid. In use the lens feels well balanced and the focus and zoom controls work smoothly and feel as if they are connected to a quality mechanism.Overall very happy with the purchase

Quality at an affordable price.
Purchased for my son who is a keen landscape photographer and in real world use the lens is hard to fault especially at the price. In all honesty l personally own the fixed aperture F3.5 version and unless you are being extremely picky image quality from the two lenses are near on identical.
