Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

I use lens on my D3100 in the bird
hydes and on the beaches in Guernsey.
The extra zoom is excellant for capturing
    wildlife at a distance.
Also my partner is a keen windsurfer so
to be able to get images out at sea is
    a bonus.

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

Use this lens for wildlife and telephoto landscape work. Whilst it is not the fastest lens, for the price you cannot go wrong. I have already shot some pin sharp images with this.
It is heavy, so would recommend a monopod if you are holding it for any length of time.

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

I have only had the lens for a week and so far it has rained every day! However I have managed to get out a couple of times and discovered just how good the stabiliser is at slower shutter speeds. The focus is fast and accurate and colours are accurate. The image in both live view and viewfinder is bright making manual focus easy. The definition has so far proved excellent and I can't wait to see results in better weather and using a tripod. All in all I feel that this has been one of my better purchases!

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

After buying this I went to Mid Wales to photograph Red Kites and the results I got were more than I could of hoped for. Bearing in mind you've no idea what way the Kite was going to twist or turn the focusing was spot on and it was very quick to react. I've taken some of my best photos from this lens and its worth every penny!!
The only slightly negative thing is the weight, after holding it for 30 minutes my arms started to ache and after and hour they felt like they were going to fall off as I couldn't use a tripod for what I wanted.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

Visit Martin Mere WWT to give the lens a run out. I used the lens hand held very sucessfully with excellent results. Lens is heavy but that exactly what you would expect. I carried it in a camera bag with my Nikon body and and other lens on the train and on foot with no problem. The biggest drawback is the lens hood that is very flims (pity).

Great lens for the price. I bought it for when I go to Costa Rica in March 2012. Not too heavy to carry. Bit slow focus but it is the price you have to pay for "cheap" I'm a people photographer by profession.

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

No complaints really on a lens of this price for what it does. Used hand held mostly, with good results. Heavy ? depends on the user. I dont find it a problem. Have used it with a monopod ,I'd recommend a manfrotto 234 rc for some tilt aswell. Performs well even on a dull day. Lens will creep but only if carried pointing to the floor. Seems well built and robust only gripe would be lens hoods a bit flimsy. If you're thinking about one just get it and use it. no regrets .

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

I purchased this lens for wildlife photography. Not being able to afford my camera makers equivalent I went for Sigma as I have used their lenses in the past. I was very surprised by the quality of build which is excellent. It's heavy as a result but I expected that, it's a big lens.

The focus is quick and sharp and the lens is very quiet. I used it on a monopod and field tested it at a local lake, the results were clear sharp and bright images.

A very pleasing purchase and one that I would highly recommend.

Comments about Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit:

Purchased as an update to and replacement for my Nikkor 80-400mm, which at 5yrs old was getting on a bit; Sigma's latest HSM and OS big improvement over old Nikkor, as is performance, which surprised me. Latest Nikon no doubt improved but nearly twice price of this one, new.

Usage is on full frame D700, where extra focal length really counts but now also a D200.

Image quality first rate, open aperture or any other, whether sunrises using a tripod or landscapes hand-held, with or without Optical stabiliser. Focus is usually instant, as good as Nikon's SWM (my experience with other newish Nikkors) and OS easily on a par with Nikon's VR. Really does tame this often unwieldy beast.

Heavy & long especially when zoomed right out and with decent hood used, one can still just about walk about with it. Sunsniper strap, that screws into tripod bush of either of my D700 or lens collar hood helps enormously with portability.

I was sceptical about wide-ish zoom range; no worries, quality wise though gravitational lens creep catches me out every time, though can be locked into short setting. Switches a bit small & fiddly for my big hands. Durability isn't going to be as strong as with the Nikkor, nor will trade-in value but Sigma is justifiably popular and so will remain sought after. Go for it, you want to and there are now enough positive reviews from happy punters to back the claims up.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
