Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit

Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit
No Longer Available No Longer Available

Please Note: This model is now discontinued and a new version is now available: Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens - Nikon Fit.
This Sigma 11.1x high zoom ratio lens is designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras and incorporates Sigma's original OS (Optical Stabiliser) function. The Sigma 18-200mm lens is equipped with Sigma's own OS function which uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera, and works by moving an optical image stabilising lens group to effectively compensate for camera shake.  More

Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit Further Details

  • View Video

A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) lens and three aspherical glass elements provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations and produce a high level of optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. The super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. It also produces an optimum, neutral colour balance.

The Sigma 18-200mm lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7”) throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification of 1:5.3, making it very convenient for taking close-up pictures.

An inner focusing system provides high performance and convenience. The non-rotating lens barrel perfectly suits the matched petal-type lens hood (supplied) and circular polarising filters.

A zoom lock switch mechanism is provided to prevent the lens from creeping due to its own weight.

This lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D40, D40x and D60 camera which require a built-in motor.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens as a general travel, 'do it all' lens to save having to keep changing lens. The results with the lens on my Nikon D300s are excellent. As is to be expected on a so called 'super zoom', there is some barrel distortion around 18mm, (spend over double the price of the Sigma on a Nikon 18-200mm and you will still get distortions)but only really noticeable if photographing something with straight lines, for example a brick wall - on landscapes it isn't a problem, and is easily corrected in Photoshop. I haven't noticed any other distortion at other settings. Overall, for the type of lens that it is, a good performer, producing clear and sharp photos - unless you really drill into the pixels, when you will spot some softness at the edges of the picture. Under normal viewing, and in printed format, the image quality is good and clear. I have found the focusing to be fast and accurate, even in low light conditions. If you need a general purpose lens, covering a range of settings then this is an excellent lens at a great price.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit:

I purchased this lens as I am currently learning photography and wanted a lens that would be useful in most situations. I have found it to be perfectly adequate for all my training needs so I am not having to change lenses a lot for different parts of the course. Its a bit heavy but thats the only negative thing I can think of. All in all i'm very happy with the purchase. Once I get trained I know that I will need better lenses than this but they will all cost £1000 + each.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit:

After a lot of internet research and the 5 star ratings on the Wex website decided this was the lens for me as I didn't want to forever change lenses while out and about, and waste time for fear of missing that perfect shot and besides I don't want the risk of dirt getting inside my beautiful Nikon 5100. I have had this lens for about 6 weeks now and I can say in that time it has met all my expectations and more, I am not going into all the techy stuff so I will just say if you want a lens for all situations this is the one, this lens rocks my world, I love it, so much so I have just ordered the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens to complete my kit from Wex, who are second to none to deal with. Don't hesitate order it now you won't be sorry.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens for my Nikon D200
I did a lot of research on which lens to go for and in the end it was a choice between this lens and the Nikon 18-200 VR.
and i found there was little to choose between these lenses.
In the end I chose the Sigma quite simply because of the other reviews i had looked at
With the D200 this is a fairly hefty, and I would usually use a shutter speed of 1/125 or faster to get a sharp shot, but wit apeteure wide open I could shoot comfortably at 1/8th sec. with quite amazing results. The test results were very good
The lens feels well made , but only time will tell the whether it is ,but I have 1 other Sigma lens 120-400mm and it is good too so I expect no problems with this one

Do yourself a favour get this lens I guarantee you won't be disappointed
