The Sigma 18-250 f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit - incorporates Sigma's original Optical Stabilisation function and has a 13.8 times zoom ratio. As opposed to having an anti-shake function in the camera body, this lens's Hybrid Optical Stabiliser provides not only an anti-shake function for the camera body, but also compensates for image shaking in the view finder as the Optical Stabiliser is built in to the lens. Four Special Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lens elements provide excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7 inches) at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification ratio of 1: 3.4, making it ideal for close-up photography. The lens incorporates super multi-layer coating to reduce ghosting during backlight photography. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making it suitable for use with circular polarising filters and the supplied petal-type hood.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit:

This lens is a great all-rounder. The focal range is superb, distortion is well handled and images are sharp. Quick to focus and a nice size on the front of a D90 or bigger, with a build quality that lets you know it'll last a long time.

This lens is £200 cheaper than Nikons best offering and a worthy addition to any kit.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens to replace the kit 18-55mm lens that came with my camera and also the 55-200mm zoom which I purchased later. The idea was that I need to change lenses frequently so I decided to sacrifice a little performance at both ends of the scale for the sake of convenience. First impressions of the lens were very favourable - rugged looking, good heft in the hand and seemingly well built. Peformance so far is excellent although having only owned it a few hours I haven't really had chance to put it through it's paces. There are a few niggles though - 1) it's [*] heavy - it's nearly doubled the weight of the camera/lens combo; 2) the zoom ring stiffens noticably at about 130mm, but this may just be down to "newness" and wear off eventually; 3) the interface with the camera body is very tight, and took a good twist to seat it propery - Sigma could learn something from Tamron in this department; 4) the focus ring is sited at the front of the zoom barrel and thus right under your supporting hand - but it rotates during autofocus!; 5) the zoom lock switch is too small and fiddly - it will be left off permanently. Other than that, so far so good - if the Sigma delivers what it promises then it will have been a good buy. [...]

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit:

I use this on my Nikon D5000 and bought it to replace a Nikon 18-105vr and Nikon 55-200vr for convenience. I loved the Nikon 18-105vr, it is an excellent lens but I wanted more range in a convenient package and whilst the Nikon 55-200vr takes good images, I never liked handling it as it felt cheap. This Sigma 18-250 is a lovely lens and anybody who disagrees is either very fussy or has had a bad example. Not only is the purchase one of convenience, I actually think it is a worthwhile upgrade from the 18-105 in terms of increased colour vitality, bokeh and faster focus so I have won on more than one count. The only down sides are it is noticebaly heavier than my previous lens but aren't all good lens quite heavy? and it is a bit stiff around the 135mm mark but I expect that will improve with use. I have found the lens to be sharp and consistent across the range and this now completes my range of lens that includes a Sigma 10-20 and Nikon 60mm Macro which are both excellent lens to benchmark against.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit:

I don't own a Nikkor lens, every lens I have is a Sigma. I have no problems with any of them... except, unfortunately, this one.
The build quality is suspect. The general feel of the zoom mechanism is stiff throughout, and the stiffness of the zoom at 135mm is unaccepable.
The Optical Stabilisation feels positively prehistoric compared to my old Nikkor 18-105mm, whirring and buzzing away whilst doing little to picture quality. Which leads me to.... picture quality.... Needless to say, photo's taken with this lens arn't going to be super sharp due to the massive focal range. But they are less than accaptable, with very poor sharpness and huge problems with abberations.
I was going to take it on holiday, but it will be replaced with another model before I go I'm afraid.
I really wanted to like this lens, as I love my other Sigma's, but i feel that this model was just a step too far in the 'Super-Zoom' stakes.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens a few weeks ago to replace my 18-55 and 55-200 Nikon DX AFS lens (with VR ), popped it on my D40 and went on Hol's to Fuerteventura.
200 plus pic's later (!) I have to say I love it to bits !
It really is so user friendly,, fast, sharp, and surprisingly, balances nicely on the little D40 body.
Technically I really have no idea how this lens rates in resolution charts and such but, practically it's performance and picture quality easily matches my Nikon lenses and the stabilizer is nothing short of, magic!
AF is again, fast and quiet and very, very accurate .
I can't fault it,, it's a lot of lens for the money and the macro is so,so, useful and affective (Nikon take note!:-) . People have written that the extra 50mm doesn't make much difference,, I beg to differ ,, the perspective is markedly different and totally usable with the stabilizer activated .
And,, the icing on the cake,, Warehouse Express's superb , hassle free service!
An absolute winner all round in my book.

Lens works perfectly. No problems so far. Sharp at all focal lengths ... very good wide open @ 250mm.
OS does it's job. Lens is very quiet. When zooming from 18mm to 250mm it is quite stiff around the 135mm .. I believe this is normal. No zoom creep as yet. Takes nice pictures!
