This is an incredible lens for the money. It's a big improvement over the kit lens. The focus is quick & quiet enough.

Zoom & focus is all handled internally so the lens' dimensions stay the same throughtout the focus & zoom range, which is something I always look for in a lens.

There's only two negatives for me. Firstly the foucus rings rotates during operation, which is a shame but at this money it's really not a problem & certainlty isn't obtrusive by any means, so long as you don't hold the lens near the focus ring.

Secondly, the "feel" of the focus ring when manual focusing is far too light with insufficient resistance. This is an annoying problem with modern lenses but is so easliy avoidable & surely wouldn't affect manufacturing costs too greatly. Come on manufacturers get this sorted!
I own other lenses which don't have this trait, so why can't all AF lenses avoid this. If you rarely use MF this is not really a problem however.

So overall this is an excellent lens that is well built & gives sharp results! It's fast too so immediatley has an advantage as Canon do not make anything similar anywhere near this price point!

As usual with Sigma (& take note Canon) you get a decent petal-type hood included in the box - hoorah!

So if you need a lens in this focal length range you will not be dissappointed with your decsion to purchase this great Sigma model!

I should also add this is my first Sigma lens (or any third party lens for that matter) & I am hugely impressed & will certainly consider other Sigma models next time I'm in the market for a lens.

Excellent lens for everyday shooting at an incredible price. Solid metal lens mount and f2.8 at the wide end, great for outdoor and indoor low light at 18mm. Good for light painting and long exposure stuff. Silent and fast focussing. Amazing well priced alternative to your Canon Kit Lens.

This lens is excellant has it has the stabalizer on which helps with hand shake if you have no tripod at the time, its a very sturdy lens and has a good focus, and i use it a lot, its well built, and would buy another one from Warehouse express. As i have joined a camera club i need a good lens which i can afford

I mostly use this Lens when doing landscape but is also good when doing Portrait.

I got this for an upgrade from my Canon kitt lens. And I love it. The lens is so much faster and you cant hear it.

I have been nothing other than completely satisfied with this lens. It now sits on my 30D as my prime lens and the shots I'm getting with it are more then acceptable. I would like another F stop but for the money it's exceptional.
