Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Lens - Canon Fit Further Details

  • View Video

It incorporates the floating focus system and the use of two aspherical lens elements to minimise distortion, spherical aberration and astigmatism. The lens incorporates minimum vignetting optical construction in order to obtain adequate peripheral brightness with open aperture. The internal focus system of the lens eliminates front lens rotation, thus allowing the use of a Perfect Hood and easy use of polarising filters. The lens also incorporates a dual-focus mechanism. It is easy to hold the lens, since focusing ring does not rotate during auto-focus, and yet provides adequate torque of the focusing ring during manual focusing of the lens. The lens materials used in this new lens are lead and arsenic free ecological glass.

Comments about Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Lens - Canon Fit:

        What a great lens.
My first prime, and wow, great results.

        Great images, really sharp.
If you can afford the Canon EF 24mm f1.4L II USM, go for it..but me, thats out of my price range.
And does 4mm on a crop sensor really make that much difference?

Never had a problem with sigma.
Go for it, its a brilliant little(ish) lens.
Oh, and it has a nice petal hood too.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Lens - Canon Fit:

I am well aware that third party lenses can be hit and miss sometimes, Sigma in particular seem to have certain issues with canon compatibility on occasion.I've been lucky enough to have only had excellent copies of their lenses and although many people rave about Canons L glass, I try not to be a snob about such things and am a firm believer that the photographer makes the photo, not the gear. On to this lens, I have L glass, I also have a nifty fifty and I'm always looking to try other lenses on their own merits, this particular lens has blown me away, it's sharp, razor sharp throughout, it's beautiful wide open, the macro isn't going to satisfy the expert in that particular style of photography but its still very useful to have. What this lens does is shoot wonderfully in low light, it's fast, has great DOF and on my full frame sensor performs outstandingly. If you like to do your homework as I do, reviews are mixed for this lens, maybe I have been lucky and received an excellent copy, I've got no issues with focus at all and as for it being noisy, my nifty fifty sounds like a combine harvester in [...] I can't recommend this lens highly enough and LOOK at the price. Amazing!!!

Comments about Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Lens - Canon Fit:

This is a fantastic piece of fast glass, pin sharp right through the range, BUT it's totally spoilt by having the slowest noisiest AF i've ever seen, seriously, it's appaling.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Lens - Canon Fit:

I really wasn't expecting much from this lens other than its glass speed but wow it's super sharp right from f1.8 with Canon "L" like colour and contrast.

the above along with its close focusing ability make this a great prime to have.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
