This is a fast F1.4 aperture standard lens for digital cameras. SLD (Special Low Dispersion and ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements are used to obtain the best possible correction for magnification and chromatic aberrations, which are particular problems for digital cameras. From 40cm (15.7”) minimum focusing distance to infinity, this lens creates very sharp images with high contrast. The HSM models provide quiet, high-speed auto-focus shooting, as well as full-time manual focus override. Large maximum aperture of F1.4 can perform superbly in a great range of applications, including snapshots, portraiture, indoor shooting and landscape photography.  More

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

This lens is good if you're new to digital SLRs and want a general purpose prime lens. The focusing motor is relatively quick, a little bit faster than my Sigma EX 18mm-55mm f2.8 lens.

Although, I'm a bit disappointed with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens. I recently sent this lens back to Sigma because there were an issue with automatic focusing system. A week later I got a replacement lens and the automatic focusing system is slightly fixed.

If you're a Canon shooter and want a versatile lens, then get the Canon 17mm-40mm L f4.0 lens. This lens is super sharp and quick focusing. Save your £379!

I'm very disappointed with this Sigma EX 30mm f1.4 lens, my Sigma EX 18mm-55mm f2.8 performs much better than the Sigma 30mm f1.4.

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

Decided to buy first DSLR after many years away from 'serious' photography, and wanted a high-quality prime lens in the old fashioned 50mm tradition (this lens is equal to 48mm in old money!). As I was on a limited budget, I thought long and hard before making my choice.

I have used this lens for the last 5 months. It has proven itself to be the perfect choice and is a truly great all-round performer. Matched with my Canon 1000D body it produces staggering results. (Due to limited funds my theory was to put more money into the standard lens than the camera body - hence the 'budget' body).

It is my only lens and I am not rushing to buy any additional lens in the near future - there is plenty of scope with this one.

Finally, as an old-timer who learnt on old manual-everything film slr's, I was sceptical about the auto-focus feature, but it not only works a treat but the quiet motor is well worth the extra money. Any other old timers will probably find the auto-focus better, easier and more useful than they imagine.

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

Glad I bought the 30mm 1.4. After spending hours looking through threads of images taken by the sigma, I decided I needed to get one for myself, and I'm glad I did.

Great sharp lens and very fast. Worked well for some fast paced boxing photography recently. Love it so far!!

            Excellent lens :-)

Attached to my Canon EOS 50D and the results are a massive improvement over previous lens. On my crop-sensor this is fixed at approx 50mm so makes an excellent all-round and/or portrait lens with impressive results.

            A great investment.

This is a great and very fast lens. I bought it as i wanted a standard lens on my 40d. It is very sharp slightly stopped down and good wide open.
I had to send it to sigma to be calibrated for my camera but all work was done swiftly and free

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

This is the first lens I have bought, to go with a new EOS 450d, and I am very happy with it.

The lens is very fast and so opens up lots of opportunities to shoot in different levels of light. The images are very sharp and seem to have little if any noticable distortion. Autofocus is very quick and is almost silent. The lens is very solid, and comfortably heavy- it doens't feel at all like plastic and the focus ring is smooth but isn't loose or slack. Comes packaged with a lens hood and a case, which were nice bonuses.

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

At last I have found a 50mm equivalent which gives me excellent results in low light conditions while being perfectly adapted to more "normal" use. The overall picture quality is outstanding - very crisp, with distortion being something that can almost be forgotten about. Both rugged and good-looking, at this price it is a snip.

Comments about Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM Lens - Canon Fit:

The aperture of 1.4 gives conttrol over both the subject and the background making the lens very versatile.
As a standard lens the focal length of 30mm is slightly wider than the standard lens of 50mm for a 35mm film camera. This can be an advantage where space is sometimes limited, but the difference is so slight that it cannot be conciderd a wide angel lens.
                  The auto-focus is excellent.
