The very latest optical technology has been incorporated in the production of the new Macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG. This ideal standard lens sets the benchmark for digital SLR cameras. This standard macro lens enables you to enjoy the communication with subject. When viewing through the camera's finder, you are able to move your subject, and make precise adjustment. It has a close working distance and it is very convenient for taking close-up pictures of a fossil, or other inanimate things for example. The new advanced lens design corrects various aberrations. This macro lens is specially coated to get the best colour balance whilst cutting down ghost caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. This lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.

Since this lens arrived it has not been off my camera body, the sharpness and quality of the photographs I have been producing with this lens are fantastic. I cannot fault it as a macro. Amazing for portraits and wildlife pictures, such as insects. I would recommend this to anyone!

I wanted a lens I could take out with me and use for close-up photography. This lens is comfortable to hold and keep steady. Okay when really close with a shallow depth of field a tripod is essential. It is stillpossible to get fairly close and obtain sharp pictures. The mount is metal and is a smooth fit.and the manual focus is smooth and accurate. Use this lens for portraits and you will be pleased. There is no distortion the 2.8 aperture is good.

Great lens for the price
from Worcestershire, UK
I have been frustrated by the average sharpness of mid-price-range zooms and decided that a prime lens might be the answer for close ups and more general use. In terms of sharpness, this lens is a cracker. I've done superficial tests against e.g Sony kit lenses, and this lens beats them all hands down for sharpness. I've marked it down slightly on autofocus because it is slow and has a tendency to hunt for longer than other lenses. All in all, great value.

a fantastic quality built product.i purchased mainly for macro photography and was not disappointed.easily swop's from a/f to manual for that close up picture.the only let down is the hood which is screw on not bayonet , which means you have to carry it around or have it fitted all the time.buy it if you want a macro or portrait lens at an affordable price
What can i say...............If you are just starting photography (like i have) and your unsure of a lens to buy, Then this is a must.......great sharp close up clear pictures.
