The Sigma EM-140 DG ring flash is designed to work with both AF 35mm film and Digital SLR cameras. The Ring Flash is ideal for photographing subjects in fine detail when the shadowless mode is used and is extremely effective for scientific and medical applications. Dual flash tubes can fire simultaneously or separately. Using only one flashtube creates shadow, which can give a three-dimensional feeling to the subject. The flash features a guide number of 14 w/ISO 100. The Modeling Flash function makes it possible to check for reflections and shadows before actually taking the flash picture. A wireless flash function is also available, when the EM-140 DG ring flash is used as master and the EF-530 DG SUPER as a slave unit for creating fine shadow details. High Speed Synchro and Exposure compensation functions are also available for advanced flash photography. More

Comments about Sigma EM-140 DG Macro Flash for iTTL - Nikon Fit:
I purchased this flash to accompany my Nikkor 105 mm macro lens for photographing rock samples for geological reports. So easy to use and consistently gives perfect photos. No regrets.

Superb piece of equipment.
About Me Professional
I purchased the Sigma EM-140 DG flashgun purely for macro photography, and have found it to be so flexible in its use that it has now become indispensable. Whether it is used in iTTL, Auto, or Manual mode, it is superbly accurate in its output and makes close-up work easy. Being old and doddery, I use this flashgun mainly in the same mode as my FX DSLR... Manual, but in whichever mode chosen the results are consistent. Not my first macro flashgun by any means, but definitely the BEST.

Perfect for Insect Macro

I use this on a 105mm macro lens to get insect closeups and it does the job excellently. The high output means I can shoot at speed/aperture combos I wouldn't have thought possible with stunning results. Sets up in seconds, straight out of the handy case. Feels robust, yet not too heavy. Battery life seems good compared to my SB800. You could possibly view the 2 long fixed bulbs behind the ring diffuser to be a disadvantage compared to more adaptable (and much more expensive) macro lighting systems but the diffuser does a great job and I find the overall effect very pleasing. Excellent piece of kit.
Does what it says on the box

Took a while to make my mind up on purchasing this flash, but since it arrived, have had no regrets.Close up on macro lens and close on my normal everyday lens is great. Also very good on people outside - inside watch the background/subject distance as it will give a grey shadow on all sides of the subject - not harsh but could be distracting.I have seen wedding photographers using the ringflash as well.

I'm highly delighted with my Sigma EM140DG Flash Macro. I have control to eliminate or introduce shadows as required. It is almost permanently fitted to my macro lens. Can't wait to try it on some insect shots in the summer.
