EQ3-2 Deluxe Equatorial Mount:

The superb EQ3-2 mount receives high marks from experienced observers. This sturdy mount offers precision and stability along with a host of other features for the serious astronomer. The mount rests firmly on a large, adjustable aluminium tripod with accessory tray. A bubble level allows for quick and accurate levelling. Slow-motion control knobs allow for continuous manual tracking of celestial objects. The precision mount features full 360º worm-gear tracking controls on both R.A. and DEC. axes. Dual metal setting circle dials allow quick location of target using celestial coordinates. An optional polarscope is available for aiding in polar alignment. Optional single-axis and dual-axis D.C. motor drives can be installed for auto-tracking purposes.

[...] once unpacked and assembled (instructions possibly the only drawback for a beginner) the finder scope was quickly aligned in daylight and ready to go.Unfortunately the weather has not been kind since purchase, but on first night between clouds, was able to get good views of Moon and of Saturn(90x) with the rings clearly separated from the planet. Was also glad of heavier EQ3-2 mount, as wind was gusty but scope stayed impressively steady.All in all, extremely satisfied.

Serious first scope

Product arrived at time promised,and at first I was surprised at the size and weight of the package. This surprise turned more and more to excitement as each attractive and well engineered component appeared from the box. Amazing quality for the money, (WEX where the best price I could find on the web for this combination).

Took me a while to assemble being a beginner, (only slight criticism would be the supplied instructions), but once together the finder scope was easily aligned and the scope ready for action.

Weather so far has been a problem, but properly aligned and viewing with partial cloud cover I was able to get excellent views of the moon and moving up to 90x allowed me to view Saturn, clearly separating the rings from the planet, (absolutely thrilling for a beginner). I wasn't sure at first about going for the heavier EQ 3-2 mount, but it's performance and balance on a gusty night soon proved it's worth.

Absolutely delighted. Here's to clearer skies !
