Positives
Very fast AF and almost silent
Great bokeh
No flare on my version (although some say their lens suffers from flare)
A great walkabout lens
Image quality simply superb

Negatives
No inner Zoom (lens extends when zooming)
Heavy (but there is a lot of gless in it)

Overall
Best wide angle to short tele zoom I have ever had the pleasure to use (that includes Canon & Nikon)
although there is very slight field curvature at 24mm
I believe it was voted lens of the year in A. P.

Outstanding performer on A900. Excellent sharpness at full aperture, focusses very quickly and silently, and control rings have good tactile properties. Rather heavy but very well built with a metal lens hood. Need to be careful when using filters as vignetting can be a problem.

This lens is really sharp, either for portraits or landscapes it will deliver the images you're looking for. If you're wanting a good all round lens - this is one that you should be considering.
