Comments about Sony DT 30mm f2.8 SAM Macro Lens:

I bought this mainly to be a quick-ish standard view lens for an APS-C format. The image quality I've seen so far is great, it's light, easy to get to grips with, and the macro capability is a real plus. The only negative I'd give is that the SAM focus motor is a bit noisy - it's no quieter than my screw driven lenses, and certainly no substitute for proper SSM.On the other hand this is a bargain lens, so one can't expect all the good stuff you'd find if you were paying [$]

    Excellent value

    By Scotspete

    from Lothians, UK

    Pros

    • excellent performance at a really good price

    Cons

    • feels a bit plasticy

Comments about Sony DT 30mm f2.8 SAM Macro Lens:

I bought this lens as an alternative to a 100mm Cosina macro that I have been using for some years, as I wanted one that was designed specifically for a DSLR. I found it fully matched the magazine reviews that influenced me to buy it: it not only produces great flower images on my A200, but it also performs well as a landscape lens! Autofocus is fast and accurate. It does feel a little "plasticy", but is still great value for money

      Pros

      • Easy to use
      • Light Weight
      • relitivly cheap compared to other sony lenses
      • smooth af motor

      Cons

Comments about Sony DT 30mm f2.8 SAM Macro Lens:

This lens does everything my 50mm f1.8sam does and a whole lot more. It's great for macro and portraits too. It's a bit too cheap looking and feeling but this only let's you know it's a light weight lens. I'd recommend this lens to any Sony user. At a great price (considering it's a Sony product) and shape and fast af motor it's everything you expect for the money. You will not regret buying this lens.
