The Tamron AF SP 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical Canon Fit Lens (IF) features an huge 2.4x zoom ratio, unprecedented in its class of ultra wide-angle zoom lenses. The innovative, high-performance ultra wide-angle zoom lens is designed exclusively for SLRs with APS-C sized image sensors. The SP AF 10-24mm Di II from Tamron is the first-ever ultra wide-angle lens for digital SLR cameras and features a focal length range with the 35mm equivalent of 16mm ultra wide-angle to 37mm semi-wide-angle in a user-friendly lightweight, compact design. This Tamron lens is so versatile that photographers can use it to be super creative, capture fantastic views or extraordinary close-ups, bold compositions and unique perspectives. More
Di II lenses are constructed for the exclusive use on digital SLR cameras with smaller-size imagers (not bigger than 16x24mm) and featuring optical systems optimized to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras including:
1. High resolution
2. Minimization of peripheral light fall-off
3. Minimization of scattered light behavior
4. Minimization of chromatic aberration
LD Elements are produced of special glass materials which possess an extremely low color dispersion index (a unit which measures the ability of a glass to separate a beam of light in its spectral colors). LD elements compensate for chromatic aberration, which is particularly a problem with telephoto lenses. Chromatic aberration is a form of optical noise which reduces the sharpness and the brilliance of an image.
Tamron´s Super Performance series is a line of high performance lenses featuring high design specifications.
As a rule conventional lens elements have a constant radius (spherical), i.e. one can imagine that they are cut from a ball (sphere). This simple lens form, however, has disadvantages in terms of image defects. Thanks to innovative production technologies the trend is increasingly going over to the use of aspherical lenses. These lenses have, a surface which deviates from the ball form. Especially the correction of spherical aberration and coma can be strongly improved with these asphericals. Moreover, the distortion is compensated by means of aspherical lenses.
Lenses of customary design have a front lens group which shifts when focusing. Internal focus lenses reach the sharp position by shifting (an) inner lens element(s). Here Tamron has developed the so-called Integrated Focus Cam which allows quick and exact focusing. Moreover, the MFD can also be reduced with the internal focusing, as well as image defects like vignetting. Another advantage is the stationary focus-ring regardless of the zoom position. The front element of the lens also does not turn which is important when using filters which dependent on direction (e.g., polarization filters).

Comments about Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II LD AF SP Aspherical (IF) - Canon Fit:
Good lense gave some decent shots but you need to be careful at the wide andgle end of the setting with sharpness, small aperture and get the image focus point exacly where you need it
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good quality build and affordable
from Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland
I previosly had the Canon equivalent of this lens, which was damaged, not very robust at all!!! the tamaron feels much more solid build and at almost half the price is a much better buy. as with all Zoom lenses there is always some drop off but using F11-16 I found good definition.

Excellent quality lens
About Me Getting started
I use this lens almost everytime I set foot into a landscape or night shot scenario. The angle is outstanding, and quality is exceptional to my eye. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a Canon fit Wide Angle lens.

amazing wide angle
Brilliant wide angle lens. Allows me to photograph the smallest of interior spaces without fish-eye distortion. Also great for dramatic landscape or cityscape images. The Auto-focus runs constantly which is obviously bad for my battery. In the process of figuring out the issue, but manual focus is dead easy and clean as can be in the mean time.

Great Lense to Give a new perspective
I have been to Paris several times in the past and shot all the usual attractions many times. I wanted to try something new this time so I bought this lens before I went. I wish I had bought it sooner. The build quality of the lens is good for the price, better than any kit lens. It comes with a lens hood which is a bonus. F3.5 is more than fast enough for a wide angle lens as you'll not really use it for sport (you'd be too far away) or portraiture (unless you want to upset the model!). So for landscape it's ideal. The optics are great for the price you pay. It's very sharp from f8 all the way down and not to bad wide open either. I used it for some night time lapse shots and it has inspired me. It makes me want to get out and shoot! I can't wait until I'm next out and about with this lens. It has given new life and new perspective to my photography. [...]

A jolly nice lens
I spent ages reading reviews, but I should have just got it. It's an excellent lens, good value, and it's a lot of fun among other things. It's very wide angle makes for a great awareness of space in the photographs - I've been using it to make stereoscopic pairs of photos, which is a dramatic way to show the space in a scene. Also valuable for photographing sculpture, again because it emphasises 3D qualities.I'm delighted with it...

New favourite lens
from Fife, Scotland
This is definately my new favourite lens. If I'm going out locally on a walkabout this would be my first choice. With enough focal length to cover all my wide angle needs and also some landscapes. Others have complained about loss of sharpness and I've only really ever noticed this when pointing almost directly into sunshine. The autofocus motor is a little noisy but really not worth complaining about in the grand scheme of things. All in all an excellent lens and for the price one I'm glad to have in my kit bag.
