The Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di is a small, light and fast standard zoom lens that can be used comfortably as a high quality fast standard lens for silver-halide and digital photography. The Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Lens utilises the same size reduction technology developed for the popular Tamron 28-200mm & 28-300mm Super Zooms. It offers a constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range, making it suitable for use in low light environments. More

Comments about Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Lens - Canon Fit:
I bought this lens 5 years ago for my Canon 300D as a kit lens replacement. It works great on my 5d Mk2 where I need a faster aperture than f4 on my 24-105 lens. Good focal length spread.Sharp at f2.8. A little noisy as no USM motor but who cares! Its the end result that counts.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My favourite lens!
By Simon Ward
This lens is amazingly sharp. It resolves down to the pixel on a Canon 50D. Mostly I shoot portraits with studio flash and I tend to use around f8 a lot. On the APS-C sensor, this gives a very useful focal length range for portrait work. Rarely do I use f2.8, but I think having it makes the focusing faster and more accurate, and it allow gives you a brighter viewfinder image under modelling lights. It is not USM, but I have no problems with focus speed or noise.I also have the Canon 17-40mm f4.0L, which costs twice as much, yet I prefer and use this Tamron lens more because it has a more useful focal length range and I believe it actually gives sharper results on an APS-C sensor (subjective comparison). This is because the Canon L lenses all cover the full 35mm sensor size so with an APS-C camera you are wasting money paying for an image circle you do not fully use. By concentrating on just APS-C, Tamron are able to make a lower cost lens that still maintains superb image quality and gives a wider maximum aperture. Canon have been a bit slow in producing high quality lenses for the APS-C market.Paired with a Canon APS-C SLR, you cannot go wrong!

Fantastic for the price
from Newbury UK
As another review says, this is the next best thing to the the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L, and its about a third of the cost. While it's a fantastic lens and I would recommend it to any one, it does have its weaknesses (see cons), though I would say that none of these really let it down considering the price.

A little gem
from Chesterfield , Derbyshire
If you do not have the cash or inclination to go for the Canon 24-70L then this is the next best thing.
