The Tamron SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) MACRO, is a lightweight, high-performance and fast tele-zoom lens designed for DSLR cameras with both 35mm full-size image sensors and APS-C sized sensors. Its fast f2.8 aperture enables photographers to work with the minimum depth of field or at higher shutter speeds to freeze action shots whilst offering a the best-in-class Minimum Focussing Distance of 0.95m over the entire zoom range, giving an impressive macro magnification ratio of 1:3.1 when zoomed to 200mm. The advanced optical construction of the AF 70-200 f2.8 with Tamron’s Multi Lens coatings minimise the possibilities of flare, with three LD (low dispersion) elements effectively compensating for lateral and on-axis chromatic aberrations, resulting in edge-to-edge sharpness and high-contrast image quality to challenge far higher priced alternatives from the mainstream camera brands.   More

Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 SP Di - Nikon Fit Further Details

Tamron 5 Year Warranty

This lens enables the user to cover a focal length range of 70mm medium telephoto to 200mm telephoto when mounted on a 35mm full-size DSLR camera (109mm to 310mm equivalent* on a DSLR camera equipped with an APS-C sized image sensor).

Size & Weight
The Tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens is extremely compact at just 195mm long and 89.5mm diameter with its advanced optical design keeping weight down on the lens itself to a mere 1150g.

One-touch Auto/Manual Switchover Mechanisms
The models for Nikon and Canon cameras can easily and quickly be switched between Auto and manual focus simply by sliding the focus ring back or forwards. (Sony and Pentax systems require AF/MF switchover operation on both the camera and lens).

Whilst in Autofocus the IF (internal focusing) system prevents the focusing ring from rotating ensuring great handling and stability at all times.

Slip the focus ring back and you are immediately in Manual Focus mode allowing you to decide exactly where you want to focus your subject to take control of your depth of field or simply to focus on a particular area of the subject without having to reframe or access alternate focus modes via your cameras menu system. The Manual focus system is well weighted and has a quick action to enable focusing from close to infinity without losing balance and stability.

Detachable Tripod Grip Ring
The lens is supplied with a lightweight and rigid aluminium removable tripod socket.

Flower-shaped Lens Hood
A flower-shaped lens hood is included as a standard accessory. The special hood provides optimum shading of superfluous light whilst allowing full use of the maximum zoom range.

(*) Tamron's conversion ratio is 1.55x

Comments about Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 SP Di - Nikon Fit:

Having 'made do' with a slower lens for sometime I purchased this lens to help improve my wedding and portrait work - I wish I'd have bought it sooner - it did exactly that - a slick, fast lens that enabled me to shoot in lower light due to its wide f2.8 maximum aperture. A good buy [...]

Comments about Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 SP Di - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens over the Sigma option as it was the cheaper option with the same spec's.

I'm glad i did as i find the lens just as good if not sharper than the Sigma, though this lens is quite new to the market i think it will be a big hit in the future and if not it should be.

My only worry with buying the lens was the autofocus as i had read it was slow,,,,,,BUT it's not.

It is fine and is just as fast as my 70-300mmVR Nikon, only thing about the autofocus is the need for the silent motor but again it is no way a pain to listen too.

You will also like the manual focus setup one of the best and ease of use i have used.

Go on Grab Yourself one you wont look back.

        Great Image Quality

        By BigA

Comments about Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 SP Di - Nikon Fit:

Used on a Nikon D200, I have found the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 to produce very high quality images for my type of photography, which is landscape, flowers and some portraiture.

AF is slightly clunky, but this does not bother me, and probably would not be ideal for the sport photographer, but in every other way, it is superb.

        • Well built

        Cons

        • A bit bulky

        Best Uses

Comments about Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 SP Di - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lense mainly for the purpose of shooting bands the combination of this lens with its good range and F2.8 along with the high ISO settings of my D700 mean that i can do this with ease and no flash.
It is a bit bulky but not to bad and also not to heavy.
Shots are always sharp thoughout the range of this zoom lens it is also compatible with the new FX size sensor.
I have also used this lens for shooting wildlife and it is prety quick on auto focus with very few lock problems and they only happen in very low light conditions. I now take this lens with me everywhere and use it for much more than i thought i would. It is a fantastic piece of kit thanks Tamron.
