Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit Further Details

Tamron 5 Year Warranty

Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens

The new lens is a Di type lens using an optical system with improved multi-coating designed to function with digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras. With this 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens, flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 95cm (37.4”), enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects that normally require the use of a specially designed macro lens. Moreover, this is a zoom lens that casually offers the distant capture and foreshortening effect pleasures of the 300mm ultra-telephoto world.

Main Features

Improved Coatings Transform Zoom Lens into a Di Type Lens Designed for Digital SLR Cameras
By employing “Internal Surface Coatings” (i.e., multiple-layer coatings on cemented surfaces of plural elements) and new multiple-layer coating technology on ordinary elements, ghosting and flare due to reflections that occur when light enters through the front element and reflections caused by the imagers themselves are reduced to the absolute minimum. Additionally, upgraded advanced quality control raises the level of resolution performance standards and prevents flare due to aberrations, resulting in a telephoto zoom lens suitable for photography with interchangeable-lens type digital SLR cameras.

Macro Effect of 1:2 in Telephoto Zoom Range

Flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm allows entry into the macro range, for photography as close as 95cm (37.4”) from the subject. In the macro range, one can take advantage of the telephoto effect and a maximum magnification ratio up to 1:2. (In normal shooting ranges, the minimum focus distance is 1.5m.) In addition, since the focal length in the macro range spans from 180mm to 300mm, zooming can also be used to adjust composition.

Designed for Use on Both Digital and 35mm Film Cameras

The ultra-long telephoto zoom covering up to 465mm equivalent can be used on a digital SLR camera, while the wide-end 70mm can be used with a conventional 35mm film SLR camera for portraits and other moderately mid-range shots.

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

My first Tamron 70 - 100mm lens mechanism failed so found it more cost effective to replace rather then repair. However because the lens is so compatible and easy to use it will always be a key part of my camera equipment.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

Even though this lens doesn't have image stabilisation built-in I am still able to capture sharp, clear images handheld, even at a large f number such as f/18, without the use of flash. The built-in Macro mode is awesome and something I use quite a lot, the picture quality is exceptional with lots of crisp detail.

I really can't complain, I'd say you get exactly what you pay for and more!

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

I decided to buy this product as I was asked to take some action shots within football matches. The previous lenses that I had couldnt get in close enough and quick enough, and I held off for a couple of weeks before getting it. My only regret? not getting it sooner. Fantastic clear images, from close up to the other end of the pitch.

For the price, its a brilliant item to have in your bag.

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

Can't fault the value although the build appears a little fragile - appears to be a bit of a fair-weather tool but I won't be lugging it up hills and mountains or across rugby fields on cold, wet and windy days.

Used it on both my EOS 5D and 40D - the "added" magnification on the latter makes its very useful addition to my kit and will well used in a variety of circumstances.

Played around with the Macro mode and the results look promising.

If you aren't sure whether an investment in a distance lens is the right way to go or you don't really know what spec you really require this is a great piece of kit to help you understand what it is that you really want without having to make a major financial commitment

      Superb Extra First Lens

      By Riccardo

      from Prudhoe, Northumberland

      Pros

      • Great value for money
      • Great zoom
      • not large for the zoom offered
      • offers a wide range of shooting opportunities
      • performs well for most shots
      • Very light

      Cons

      • action shots in low light
      • A little flimsy
      • different size to main camera lens

      Best Uses

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

I chose this lens to go with the kit lens for my Canon 450D - my first SLR after years of using bridge cameras. Anyone new to SLR should add this lens as it's so cheap for what it offers. The aperture allows freezing of fast action up to around 1/2000 sec as long as the light is good. On a cloudy day, 1/640 is about the best. Very light & small considering the zoom range & the macro facility is a great addition.

Comments about Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens - Canon Fit:

for its price range it is a good lens but i have found that some times the camera (canon eos 40d) doesn't find the lens and it will some times locks the f-stop at f11 i don't no why and i find what you have to do is turn the camera off and on again which is not good at times. and one more thing i try-ed to take a photo of the red arrows on auto forces and it just didn't work so i was not happy as i missed a shot of a life time
          :-(((.
again for the price range it is good lens and for any one how is looking to bey a affordable lens this is a good lens

I bought this lens for my Canon 400D and i have got some real nice shots from this lens.
The value for money here can't be put to question as it is a good performer in this price range.

Only niggle i would have with it is the zooming in and out which seems a bit stiff but the lens is still new and you never no it might bed in nice after further use.

This lens i would recommend to anybody on a tight budget as it will perform well against sub £300 lens of the same optic value.
