5 Year Warranty. The Nikon fit Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens has a built-in motor and offers a medium telephoto focal length which makes it ideal as a portrait macro lens when used with a film camera. When used on a digital SLR camera (with an APS-C sized image sensor), the lens provides a focal length equivalent to that of 140mm (on a 35mm SLR camera). This means it can be used as a telephoto macro lens for digital photography.   More

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

I spent alot of time researching this lens and all the review where positive, how right they were. I was so pleased with this lens, it will now be in my camera bag where ever i go.

The only snag is the manual / auto focus ring. You need to pull it toward you to disengage the auto focus and its abit stiff, prob getting loser as i use it more.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

I think this is a fantastic lens, giving really good images, and amazing value for the price. It can be rather slow and noisy during Autofocus compared to other, more expensive Macro lenses from other manufacturers, but this is generally not an issue as it tends to be better and more accurate to use manual focus anyway.Image quality may not quite be the sharpest on the market, and require a little fine tuning on photoshop (possibly a bad photographer blaming his tools), but that doesnt stop this from being my favourite lens and 9 times out of 10 gives me very pleasing results

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

I bought this lens a couple of weeks ago specifically for macro work. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world. Coupled with my Nikon D7000 I have already managed to produce some great images (in my eyes at least!). The lens is very simple to use and appears to be well constructed. The 90mm focal length means that it is possible to get great magnification with totally crowding the subject. Autofocus works well (particularly if the limiter is engaged) and the clutch mechanism means that it is also very easy to move into manual focus mode. The manual focus ring is a little sticky, but nothing that causes any difficulties and I have not noticed any sort of creep. Images are pin sharp. As yet, I haven't used it for non-macro work so cannot comment.
Overall, first impressions are that this is a great lens priced very competitively.

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

Well, what can I say? This is about as good as it gets for a 'budget' lens.
It's a pleasure to use with smooth manual focus ring. It's light, but a good feel. Fast and accurate AF.
The lens extends to nearly twice it's standard length when wound out to full macro, but I've not found this to be a problem.
Cleaning the front element is a little tricky because it is buried deep in the casing. But this also means it's less prone to getting dirty in the first place.
Lovely lens at a great price.
      Another winner from Tamron.

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

Had the lens for about 2 weeks and found it superb. The manual focus on macro is precise and has a good positive feel to it. Auto focus os a little slow but when using for macro work I find manual focus much better anyway. Other reviews claimed poor build quality and bit plastic, as far as I'm concerned the build quality was very good, easy to attach and as for the plastic body, this only made the lens lighter so when doing hand held work is only a bonus. yet to try it as a general purpose but if the are as good as the macro shots then I will not be disappointed.

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

There's been a couple of versions of this classic from Tamron that's still used as a benchmark to compare other macro lenses with. This one, is my second, when they added life-size capability and A/F to it.
Once you get over the very idea that you can focus true macro (near life size) automatically, you'll be fine. You move the camera in and out to focus, as it gets so shallow and that stopping down to f32, f45 and even to this len's minimum f64 becomes the norm.
Use it with dedicated, independant extension tubes and you can get images five times life size.
Along with that and a scientific degree of sharpness, but in a smart looking and relatively compact lens that's easy to use, it's the one, every time. No need to worry about corners, wide apertures, what distance it's focussed on, it's all 'there'.
Added to that it can double up as fast(ish) portrait or general use lens.
It being like a faithful wife, I'll not need to look at another or indeed consider another macro lens again!

Comments about Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di Macro Lens - Nikon Fit:

It was a choice between the Tamron SP90 Macro and the Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro. The Sigma has a lot of fans but I went for the Tamron because of other reviews of it's tack sharpness and because it was slightly cheaper.

The sharpness of this lens is outstanding. It's incredibly sharp and resolves a lot of detail. It's probably the sharpest lens I have by quite some margin and I own two very, very sharp Nikon prime lenses so that's a huge deal!

The AF is a bit slow and clunky and can hunt quite a lot but it does have a limit switch which stops it hunting throughout the entire range. For macro work this isn't too much of a problem however as macro's are easier on manual focus anyway.

The images are crisp, detailed and with a very nice OOF bokeh. Even wide open at F2.8 when taking shots (not normally macro) the lens retains very good sharpness. It's so sharp you probably wouldn't want to use it for portraits unless you wanted to see every single pore on the subjects face!

The lens extends quite a long way at it's focus limit and the aperture closes a bit at close focus - it's not F2.8 throughout the focus range. Again not really a problem as at close focus 1:1 macro the DOF is so shallow you'd want to stop down quite a way anyway.

I would highly recommend this macro lens for it's incredible sharpness, it has to be seen to be believed.
