I was delighted with the results from this lens from the start. It is my first venture into Macro land and the lens has certainly performed as I had hoped. As a relative beginner I have found it easy to use and have been happy to use the Auto focus or manual option doing both close ups and more general shots including portraits (usually of friends pets!). I am using this lense on a full frame camera and whilst I am no expert I think the results are sharp, I have not noticed any problems of any sort. It is certainly very good value for the money paid.

To be honest, I don't think I've read a bad review for this lens. Everyone seems to like it all, or at least most of it - the negatives pale compared to the important bit - the quality of the photography obtained using it. I have to agree, 100%. I haven't listed any negatives, as my experience of it is first rate. I've done quite a few product shots with it and get clean, sharp, well contrasted shots with excellent colour rendition. And then there's the portrait work - brilliant! One point about the construction - some will knock it as it feels light and plastic when pitted against some of the competition. Don't let this put you off. I recently dropped this lens onto a hard floor. The hood broke, as did the filter ring. The lens itself just carried on working. Sent it off for repair/service, and got a very small charge for replacing the filter holder and servicing it - the lens itself survived. So, they are well made too! Oh, and the turnaround of the repair was excellent too.

I'm not new to macro photography and this isn't my first macro lens - I've had bigger, heavier ones in the past. But when I needed a replacement I was tempted by the amazing price and a few good reviews. Used with a positioning plate on a heavy tripod, focusing manually with mirror locked up and a remote shutter-release, I am thrilled with the quality of the images this lens produces. If it was a poor macro lens I'd know. But it isn't poor, it's very good indeed! Compared to one or two other lenses I've used it seems a tad delicate in its construction, but that was to be expected for the price. I'll be taking good care of this one.

Pin Sharp - Easy to Use - Auto focus can be a bit tricky but the manual focus is easy to use. For the price this lense is unbeatable. The blur around the focused image is amazing.

I read a review of this lens in one of the photo magazines, and, on the strength of that review, I purchased one.

I have not been disappointed!

The quality of the images is stunning, with edge-to-edge sharpness and first class contrast and saturation.

I use this lens on a Canon 400D with battery grip, and the balance is very good.

I would recommend this lens to anyone interested in moving into macro photography.
