This was my first macro lens and I spent a long time doing research into which lens to get. Initially I was looking at the Sony 100mm Macro then someone recommended the Tamron 90mm. At around £170 cheaper the Tamron was a bargain.

Don't think that because it's a cheaper lens that it's not that good! This is a fantastic lens. Found it to be sharp and of high build quality, comes with lens hood and bag.

The only down side is that it hunts a little, ok a fair bit on autofocus for close up shots. This seems to be the norm for macro lens according to my research.

Brilliantly sharp macro lens, even at f2.8 this is sharp. Great focal length meaning this lens is great for portraits and other general use not just macro.

The auto focus hunts a lot when things are close but this may just be what macro lenses are like close up (it's the only macro I have). Solidly built and feels quality. The focus limiter switch is a very useful addition.

Overall a superb macro that can do a lot more than macro. Buy one, you won't disappointed.
