The new Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX (Canon fit) is an ultra-wide angle lens with a fast f/2.8 aperture for better photography in low-light situations. Many photojournalists consider having an f/2.8 aperture a must for any lens in their camera bag.
Based on the award-winning optical design of the AT-X 124 PRO DX (12-24mm f/4) lens, the new AT-X 116 PRO DX has a slightly shorter zoom range to maintain optical quality at wide apertures.
Tokina's exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the camera to focus manually.
The lens is designed for Digital cameras with APS-C sized CMOS and CCD sensors, not designed for cameras with Full Frame sensors.

A great addition to my kit
Excellent value for money ulta-wide angle lens ideal for use with a 1.6x FOVCF DSLR such as the Canon 550D or 60D. It has a fast f/2.8 aperture enabling it to operate better in low light conditions. The lens does have a shorter focal length than some. Auto focussing is reasonably fast and reasonably quiet. Seems to be well built and robust and operates smoothly. Very easy to switch between AF and MF by shifting the focus ring forward or backward. Comes supplied with a good quality hood.

Excellent Wide Angle Lens
This is my first wide angled lens and it doesn't fail to impress right out of the box.Rock solid build quality and feels and performs like a proper lens.Images falloff slightly at 11mm 2.8f and dont try to use any in built flash as you'll get a shadow at the bottom of the image due to the 77mm size.Focusing is all internal and the focus ring just rotates when on AF. Switching to MF is excellent as you just grab any part of the focus ring and pull it toward you.The CA is noticable, but managable as well as the distortion (a quick google will reveal many tools to help fix this if needed.)Excellent for both indoor & outdoor shots. Outstanding for landscape.Would like it to be a little sharper, but its such a minor point its hardly a show stopper. All in all and great lens.

Lived up to its promise
from Glenfarg, Perthshire
After reading everything I could find, I was still slightly cautious about whether it would live up to the very positive reviews I'd read elsewhere. Was also concerned about the few reports I read about 'bad ones', but also noted a number of informed commentators saying that a lot of the 'bad ones' are down to poor use, not a poor lens. The Chromatic Aberration (CA) is certainly there, but if you've done your research on this lens, you'll know about the issue. Is it something to stop you buying if this is the sort of lens you want/need? No! You just have to manage it.Others have criticised the small telephoto range. Well, if you want an ultra wide-angle, this is one. If you need a longer range, then that's what you need to go for.In terms of what this lens produces, I think it's outstanding. I find the build is excellent (I'm not the most gentle person in handling equipment). AF (although I tend to be tripod mounted, using LiveView and on Manual Focus)) is always fast and accurate. Overall image quality certainly pleases me (and seems to have pleased others who have looked at my images.I haven't used another ultra WA, so cannot make comparisons. But, I think this is a gem. I love it.
