Bought this item to accompany the purchase of a tripod to provide options when the space was limited. Found that the pan and tilt handle can make access to the shutter release problematic (but it can be removed if not needed!). Other wise it is a useful bracing point if placed under one arm when shooting. Easily adjusted and can use the carry strap as an additional brace.

I bought this especially to video my friend's daughter's wedding. Her videographer had pulled out at the last minute so I was drafted in to save the day. I needed a steady support for filming the ceremony and speeches and there wasn't enough space in the chapel for a tripod, so a monopod was the best option. I especially wanted a fluid tilt and pan head and this monopod was a lot cheaper than the similarly specified monopods and it suited my budget. It was sturdy in use and with a bit of practice I could tilt and pan almost without any jerking. I was also able to attach a weight to the bottom to do some el-cheapo steadycam shots which were surprisingly effective! All in all the bride and her mother were very happy with the results, due in no small part to the Velbon monopod.
