The Westcott 125cm Recessed Front Apollo Mono JS has been designed by master photographer James Schmelzer and built around an umbrella frame rather than the traditional softbox contruction. It's the largest softbox in the Westcott Mono Range and can be used without the need for an adapter ring - it just utilises the umbrella bracket on the flash head. Setting up and taking down is quick and easy using the hook and loop tape opening at the rear of the box and it can be used with lights up to a maximum of 750w. The square design and recessed front allows more directional control of the light.

The Perfect Softbox

I love this Softbox. I have had an earlier version of this Softbox for 20 years although my old Softbox was not recessed, it did use a similar umbrella system and was the same size when erected. I decided to invest in the new version of the Softbox late last year as the old one was finally starting to show its age.
I am so glad I made the change. The new Softbox is much easier to use and produces a beautiful soft light, especially when placed close to the subject. The umbrella shaft allows you to use the Softbox on either a traditional studio light, or with speed lights. I use mine with a Canon 580 EXII and a wireless ETTL transmitter which allows me to control the light from the camera.
The light produced by the Softbox is perfect for family groups, fashion or product photography and is great on location or in the studio. It's a big light source but packs down relatively small and is easy to store.... Love it, it's perfect for any studio.
