The Westcott White Satin Collapsible Umbrella can be used both as a bounce reflector with the black cover in place or as a shoot-through with the cover removed. It is small enough to position close to the subject and collapsible to just 37cm for easy transportation to on-location jobs. Maximum recommended wattage is 750, while the shaft being 8mm at the thickest point means it can be used with almost all flash heads and brackets. Umbrellas allow for a quick and easy set-up and are a particularly useful addition to a lighting kit.

Comments about Westcott 43inch White Satin Collapsible Umbrella w:
Great product, folds down nice and small but is really sturdy and works great with my canon flashgun. Easy to use, swapping between modes is simple but can be tricky if it's windy on location.Only downside is that when packed down it doesn't fit in my stand bag.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Compact yet sturdy

Seems to do the trick - sturdy yet compact so ideal when you have enough gear to lug around anyway. Be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

Reasonable Quality Item

About Me Photo Enthusiast
These are reasonably well made, but are difficult to fit back into their supplied bags, which are undersized and I feel that the bags will rip in time with having to force the umbrellas into them after use. The umbrellas are good enough for what they are, but I won't be buying these again as I find the Bowens and Lastolite are far better quality and you don't have to struggle putting them into the supplied bags after use.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It works both inside and out. I have used this for portraiture and for close ups of insects/Butterflies. The spread of light is good and it has met my needs.
Have only used this without black cover

I use it without the black cover as it's quick to turn around from reflector to shoot-through during studio work.
Good value, won't last forever
For what it is and how much it costs, it'll do a good job. Very light and portable (folds down to about 38cm). Nice big umbrella produces a nice soft light, altogether quite a versatile piece of kit.The lightweight does come at a cost. Construction is very thin and while it's not really 'flimsy' i don't think it's going last a lifetime. That said if you take care of it it'll do a good run.Would recommend for enthusiasts like myself but probably not for professionals.
Flexible and very compact
By Paul C
Undoubtedly the winning feature of this product is that it's collapsible and compact, perfect for location shooting when you don't want to carry bulky equipment. The other reviews are correct when they say that the black cover comes off when you pack it and I'm not sure there's any way around that, although I will mostly use it as a shoot through so this doesn't bother me too much. One thing to note is that the shaft is hexagonal in shape and thicker than some other umbrellas. It doesn't fit one of my flash brackets so I may modify the bracket hole, try filing down the shaft slightly (I think it may be hollow though) or just buy a new flash bracket.

About Me Professional
I have found this umbrella to be almost perfect. Produces soft light and its really compact so great for going in the camera bag. Only problem I have found is that when you collapse it with the removable cover on, the cover comes off and you have to re attach it each time you put it back up. Its nothing major just a little annoying when trying to shoot fast using the umbrella.

Very decent shoot through umbrella. If you want that nice diffused look , then this boy will do the job nicely at an affordable cost.
