The Westcott 115cm Satin White Umbrella can be used both as a bounce reflector with the black cover in place or as a shoot-through with the cover removed. Maximum recommended wattage is 750, while the shaft being 8mm at the thickest point means it can be used with almost all flash heads (not Elinchrom) and brackets. Umbrellas allow for a quick and easy set-up and are a particularly useful addition to a lighting kit.

I've just bought the 60cm Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe (also a nice product) and decided I also wanted to try out an umbrella. A bit of searching on warehouse and I came across this bit of kit. First impressions were good, it's a decent size and throws out a wide spread of light. I've only used it briefly indoors for a few test shots but I'm happy so far.
I'm a little worried about the stitching holding on the caps that hold the removable black cover on. They seem very weak and I'm expecting to have to make a few home repairs at some point. As a word of warning to other potential buyers, when used as a bounce umbrella this thing eats light! I did a quick test using it as a shoot through, and then bounce, from the same distance and with the same f number and ISO. I worked out that bouncing the light eats about 2.5 - 3 stops of power so if you intend to use this outdoors in any sun at all, be prepared for full power, slow recycling and lots of batteries. Saying that, it's a decent product for a low price, good intro to light modifiers.
