About Me Quality Oriented
Comments about X-Rite ColorChecker Passport:
I had great hopes for this, to be able to maintain a consistent colour workflow would be very useful as I often use more than one camera on a job, but this is simply hopeless. he colours it produces are less natural than the Adobe Standard Profiles and the colour balance is simply way off every time, maybe the patches are too small but my old 18% grey card is far more accurate
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Small and portable - nae excuses now!
Surprising what a difference it can make. Nice and compact so no excuses not to take it out on a shoot but you do really need to use it at the start of every photo session.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
The only colour verification that you'll need
The little hassle to set up before product shots saves a great deal of time in processing. Once a profile is made for your camera, your process colours will be accurate and can be called up again anytime. It verifies to others that the colour is corrected. Also sets a white balance absolutely.I have found this colour checker passport a basic and almost essential starting point to colour photography. It is in my bag always and is only used for important work (wouldn't bother with snaps).
A must have product
This should be in every photographer's bag really, along with a light meter. If you use Lightroom you can make use of the the full colour palette to ensure correct colour definition post production. If not, then use the grey scale to capture an accurate white balance at least. That way you avoid yellow pictures under artificial lights.Very expensive for what it is though.
great for presets
expensive but necessary!
neat piece of kit
Color Checker Passport Support
By Frankie boy
from Hillingdon, Middlesex
Just to let you know the Colorchecker Passport does not support the Pentax 645z Due to its large file sizes. I have spoken to X-Rite support and they are aware of this and do a fix for it early in the year of 2016.
Good product-poor support
By Woodham Lock
Had a Windows 10 install problem and still do. No reponse at all from the support request submitted.Found a "fix" but it has not completely resolved the issue.
Handy, small, protected
Final upgraded from some slim paper grey cards, this will be robust and stand the test of time, handy stand too if you're doing product photography
Make RAW Roar
I read a review somewhere that said using RAW without an X-Rite Color Checker Passport was like driving a Ferrari and never taking it out of first gear. How true! Use the Color Checker Passpost correctly and combine it with a powerful tool such as Adobe Lightroom to make individual profiles and you will achieve true colour representation.
