The lens design is comprised of 9 elements in 7 groups including one aspherical ED lens. These elements prevent spherical/chromatic aberrations as well as ensuring the lens delivers outstanding results. The lens design is coupled up with an inner focusing autofocus system that uses a stepping motor that drives lightweight focussing elements which ultimately provide quick and near-silent autofocus performance.
