I wanted this so that I could set a light pointing vertically up from floor level. It does this perfectly. I use it to light through opaque Perspex on which I place various flowers, leafs etc.

For me, the fact that it is not adjustable between 7cm and 50cm is not a problem and making it adjustable between them would have added weight and cost. A well built quality item.

Bought this as a spare,its great for the low angle needed for some backlight fill,i'm really pleased with the build quality it's second to none.

I bought the Bowens backlight stand so that I could use a strobe from ground level pointing towards and upwards to light my background.

It's small and very sturdy and quite heavy for it's size. It supports my Gemini 250R strobe light very securely. It folds away very neatly and doesn't take up much space at all. Very simple and quick to put together. I can position a light very low down, the lowest level is around 7cm.

Although the lowest level is 7cm, the next lowest level is around 50cm. You cannot adjust to a height inbetween the 7cm and 50cm. The reason is that you set up the base and for the 7cm level you use a short rod which is fixed at 7cm. To go above a level of 7cm you need to replace the 7cm rod with the longer one which starts at a minimum level of 50cm and can then extend to any height up to 85cm.

A little more expensive than some other brands but I think it's worth paying a little extra for the solid sturdy quality of this stand.
