Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Printer:
It's great to have a printer that can switch internally between photo black and matt black. Although it's A2, it is only marginally bigger than my old A3 printer.I find it a little muddling, choosing all the options when I try to select the paper that I am using.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Top notch pro printer
About Me Professional photographer, Quality Oriented
I bought this printer 4 years ago and it has never let me down. It produces superb quality prints on all kinds of paper from basic glossy photo paper to fine art papers. The initial purchase price was quite high, but the large ink tanks has made it very economical to run compared to smaller inkjet printers. I have produced many hundreds of prints from this printer and each turns out as good as the last one.

The paper type and quality is really highlighted with this quality of printer. If its worth printing then be sure to spend a little extra on the right paper. The prints will amaze you!
You pay for what you get
Excellent product. Print quality is superb. the paper guides are constructed of relatively light plastic, but have had no problems with this. Still getting used to the settings.
Excellent printer that fits on my desk
from North Wales
Used it to produce images in size from 6 by 4 up to A2 images to be used for a range of situations. For Photo quality so far I have printed on Epson gloss and Hahnemulle matt fine art papers the paper maker's profiles for the printer work well. Very pleased with the results so far. No problems with set up, clogs or paper feed.
Well worth the Money
Bought this when my Epsom 2400 printer final gave up the ghost. Decided to go for this one because of the big ink cartridges and also not having to change from ordinary black ink to matt black ink when printing on different papers. I usually only print to a maximum of A3 but I am now glad I bought this printer because the quality of an A2 print from this machine is outstanding. Its a lot of `dosh` but you are getting a top range machine with a lot of ink for your money.

Great for Black & White
This fantastic printer replaces my faithful Epson 2100 and so far I'm very pleased with the results I'm getting. It outputs the prints very fast and the black and white tones are the best I've seen and better than I ever got in a traditional darkroom!Coming from a Epson 2100 I would say the colour prints are a little flatter but this is probably due to me getting used to using it. I haven't seen any bronzing which was a problem with my old printer. All in all a great bit of kit, lets hope it lasts like my old one!!

Superb quality prints

About Me Perfectionist, Quality Oriented
After much research, I opted for the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 A2 printer as a long overdue upgrade to my trusty R800. The colour quality with Epson paper is great but that with Fotospeed's Platinum Gloss (with free custom profile) is simply perfect. I will using the 3880 for future client prints and for competition entries. With some thicker fine art papers, I have experienced some smearing on the leading and trailing edges when using the sheet feeders.

An excellent purchase
After deciding that A3 was not big enough for display prints I decided that the 3880 was the only A2 printer that I could justify cost wise for amateur use. The cost difference between the 2880 and the 2880 is not so great if you take out the initial set of ink cartridges that come with the printer, the 2880 working out at [$]and the 3880 at [$]. In the long term the 3880 ink (80ml) is cheaper at 55p/ml compared to the 2880 (11ml) at [$]The 3880 footprint is only about 10cm wider than the 2880 and it easily fits on my desktop. Another advantage is that you do not have to physically swap black cartridges between matt and photo printing, but a negative is not having a roll feed attachment. The print quality is excellent whether it is on a cheap 6x4inch gloss paper or a 17x37inch fine art paper cut from a roll.
