The Fuji X-Pro1 is a highly advanced mirror-less camera that features a newly developed 16 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor which is capable of delivering resolution that is parallel to a full-frame sensor. The solid, retro design of the X-Pro1 includes a textured rubberised hand grip and a convenient Hybrid Multi Viewfinder which allows you to instantly switch between an Optical Viewfinder (OVF) and an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). Choose the view to suit your style of shooting - the OVF provides a bright image with minimal shutter lag and the EVF presents you with information such as the exposure, white balance, and DOF indicators for quick manual adjustments. The X-Pro1 also includes an ISO range from 100-25,600, Manual control, Continuous shooting of up to 6fps, RAW + JPEG shooting and a powerful EXR processor. More
January 2012 - "Since the Fuji X100 was launched to an incredible response over a year ago, the question on many people’s lips has been: when will the X-series add an interchangeable lens camera to its lineup? Well it’s here and it’s more than just an interchangeable lens version of the X100, it’s an impressive camera in its own right. " Read more about the Fujifilm X-Pro1 here...
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder
Featuring the freedom to switch between an optical and electronic viewfinder, the Hybrid Viewfinder has evolved to meet the challenge of interchangeable lenses. When an XF series lens is mounted, lens data are communicated to X-Pro1, and viewfinder magnification (2 types) and frame size (multiple steps) are automatically switched. Peering through the viewfinder with all your attention focused on the subject. This simple style of shooting is the both the first step back to the essential pleasure of photography. Every lens change reveals a new world of beauty to capture.
Moiré is tackled at its root cause by the revolutionary X-Trans CMOS sensor's color filter array. By enhancing aperiodicity (randomness) in the array arrangement, the color filter minimizes generation of both moiré and false colors, eliminating the necessity for an optical low-pass filter in the lens and enabling X-Trans CMOS sensor to capture full “unfiltered” lens performance.
The EXR Processor Pro is supported by an integrated co-processor for higher speed and higher precision image processing performance.
Designed especially for the X-Pro1, the FUJINON XF Lens series promises enhanced resolution and light volume in image edge areas as well as reduced chromatic aberration for exceptional image quality. Featuring an all-glass aspherical lens and other elements, the lens is polished to perfection and treated with Super EBC coating. Holding the high-quality metal barrel and operating the precision-machined 1/3-step aperture ring is a sensation that fires the desire to capture every scene. For photographers who seek the peak of photographic excellence, FUJIFILM raises the curtain on a new era of interchangeable lenses and unveils a premium lineup of 3 single-focal length lenses.
Taking full advantage of the mirrorless design, the mount boasts a short 17.7mm flange back distance, a wider opening and deeper mounting of the lens, resulting in reduction of back focus distance to the minimum possible while achieving high resolution extending to the image edge areas. When a FUJINON XF lens is mounted, all lens information is instantly communicated to the body, integrating them into a seamless, responsive instrument.

I wish I had a camera like this years ago

Comments about Fuji X-Pro1 Black Digital Camera Body:
The quality of image is fantastic, for me as a keen landscape/abstract photographer this camera is what I've needed all my photographing years. Small'ish, lightweight, with quick intuitive settings - the white balance graph permanently on screen is particularly useful when using the +/- half stop jog wheel (right where it should be, where ones thumb sits naturally when holding a camera) - it's a great point and shoot camera. With a quick look at the readings on the large screen to check all's looking fine one can move on to the next location knowing that when you get home and download you've got it in the can. I love the 'film simulation' types, one can choose from standard colour, or vibrant Velvia and two excellent B&W settings for landscapes or simulated yellow filtered B&W (amongst others). If you've been wondering about this camera for a while - as I had - don't worry just go for it, I don't think you'll regret it. I must add I'm not an 'action' photographer and haven't put it though its paces on fast moving objects so I can't comment its abilities here.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great alternative to carrying a DSLR, within limits.
By Ginger ninja
About Me Semi-Professional
I bought this camera as an alternative to carrying a DSLR around on holiday and with the family, but I wanted the image quality and choice of lenses to equal a DSLR. While the X-Pro 1 does have its limitations such as slower AF it is capable of great image quality for a range of uses. The controls are a small learning curve, but pretty much every digital camera follows a similar set of buttons, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to someone just after a point and shoot, manual control does dominate the use. It's size is fine, it's very similar in size to an old Pentax K1000 but lighter. Fuji lenses are great.

I grew up with optical viewfinders and this camera has a very good one.You can set the ASA level and the f number to limit the depth of field and the speed if you need to. It is very well built.
Stop and think about your photography.

Just got back from my first big weekend with this camera, absolutely love it. I didn't buy it to "point and shoot" i bought it to try something a little different. Sure, it has its limitations with tracking focus etc, but that just makes you think more about each image capture / zone focussing etc.it has truly made me reconsider how i take photographs.
Amazing quality all round

About Me Professional
Excellent image quality and a build quality that many manufacturers have forgotten existed. A Nikon user for over 20 years I'm now jumping ship to Fuji. Also, the change to lighter weight kit is doing my back no end of good!
Excellent Image quality! Not great for sports or fast moving, and the focus takes a bit of getting used to from DSLRs but the quality, build and features, especially at the deal price (2 free lenses) is unbeatable!
Just fantastic, small and amazing images

Xpro1 a genuine Dslr threat
We bought the Xpro 1 with a view to having something smaller to pull out of the back pack or handbag to capture our own family pictures. The Fuji X-Pro ticks a lot of boxes:Small Form FactorGreat build qualityExcellent chipsetLenses are sharphas many features of top Pro Dslr's such as 6 fps motor driveExtendable ISONot going to rant on, just buy one if you want it! you won't be disappointed. We love it and are considering using it for our prefessional work.
The nearest thing to a love affair...
After more than 45 years using SLRs (and 35 of them dedicated to Nikon) I was totally in awe of the Fuji system when I watched a brilliant webinar by a reportage tog. When the X-Pro1 arrived, I opened the box, took out this beautiful piece of engineering, and it was love at first sight. An amazing admission from a working professional to whom a camera is just a tool.Like any love affair, there are frustrations. There are buttons that are all-too-easy to press (such as the Macro button, and the Function button) and the inconsistent lens design is weird (some have f stop indents, some have a constantly rotating ring, some you set from a jog wheel) but shooting a lot of black & white I'm in awe of the tuneability 'in camera', and the unique sensor design is truly stunning. The sense of engineering and build quality is a delight, and the images are just pin sharp once you've got used to really using this as a camera.
