Extension Tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its standard minimum focus distance. This has the effect of magnifying the subject so that it appears larger in the viewfinder and resulting images. Extension tubes are exceptionally useful for macro photography, allowing almost any lens to be used for close-up work, maintaining its original optical quality at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated macro lens. Kenko's Auto Extension Tubes contain all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain autofocus and TTL auto exposure with most lenses, providing there is enough light. The Kenko Extension tubes have been updated to work with both the Canon EF and EF-S lenses.   More

Kenko DG Canon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm 20mm 12mm) Further Details

Kenko Auto Extension Tubes Set

  • Digital Compatible Canon EF/EFS lenses
  • Length: 36mm, 20mm and 12mm.
  • Weight: 125g, 85g and 60g.
  • Full TTL coupling and AF (light levels permitting).

Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most Canon, Nikon, and Sony/Minolta AF lenses, given there is enough light to activate the cameras AF system properly. Pentax fitting must be used in manual focus.

Please note: The Kenko Auto Extension Tubes are not auto focus compatible with Nikon AF-s (Silent Wave) lenses, manual focusing is required with these lenses.

Extension tubes are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By increasing the distance between the lens and the film/sensor the lens is forced to focus a lot closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus. You will lose some light when using the extension tubes, especially when stacking the tubes together. The light lost can affect the camera's ability to Auto Focus, in this situation it is recommended to Manual focus instead.

Comments about Kenko DG Canon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm 20mm 12mm):

I bought these over cheaper 'manual' tubes mainly because I didn't want to have to set my aperture and remove my lens from the camera to take a macro shot, it all seemed like too much messing about.Although these are considerably more expensive than the £10 ones you can pick up on [@], they are well worth the asking price because the electrical connection to your camera and lens is still present and you can set the aperture easily.Build quality seems very good, heavy plastic tubes with firm fitting metal mounts, I havn't used Canon's equivilant but I can't see them being a great deal better and these are considerably cheaper.Using all tubes together, magnification is much improved on a Canon EF 100mm Macro lens, and you can really get much closer to your subject. You won't get as much magnification as you probably think you should, you will need to buy Canon's dedicated x5 macro zoom for that, but it is still quite impressive and you would be able to record fine detail on a fly's eye for example.Overall these are a great set of tubes for those wishing to take their macro photography to a (slightly) greater level of magnification.

Comments about Kenko DG Canon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm 20mm 12mm):

This product does what it says on the tin but bare in mind your focus plain is narrow and achieving sharp focus hand held does require a steady hand and patiants. Much better to use tripod and manual focus. But for the cost this is a handy item and not to be dismissed. But remember folks this is not and never will be a replacment for a good quality macro lens.

Comments about Kenko DG Canon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm 20mm 12mm):

If you have a good macro or prime lens then an extension tube is the best way to allow you to 'get closer' without having to invest heavily. This set is great value and whilst probably not quite the same build quality as the Canon version you get a lot more for your money and they work just as well. The flexibility of having three lengths to choose from enables you to use all lenses from wide to tele should you want to. They can also be stacked, which means your 200mm + lenses can now be used for close up work. Definitely recommend using a decent tripod when using these tubes!

Comments about Kenko DG Canon AF Extension Tubes Set (36mm 20mm 12mm):

a good investment for anyone with medium sized zoom lens who wants to take up macro photography or someone with a macro lens who wants to get closer. Although a steady hand is required or a tripod helps but you definately get some super close up pics. I ve used them with sigma 105mm and my sigma 150-500mm on the 40D with great results. Auto focus on most canon fits is a real bonus over older versions of these extension tubes. I've used the pentax version for 5 years before changing to canon. Great value for money.
