Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod Further Details

The 190CXPRO versions have the patented quick centre column system, that now uses a tri-faceted 100% full carbon fibre tube, magnesium die castings and magnesium top plate with an integrated levelling bubble.

The advantage to this is weight and rigidity, allowing for the highest possible reduction in weight while maintaining an extremely rigid and strong tripod set up.

One of the core pillars for Manfrotto is design, with the 190CX there has been no exception made. All the locking, lever and main castings have been redesigned to allow not only for a beautiful product, but also granting ergonomic improvements as well as lightness and reliability.

The 190CX incorporates the use of 100% carbon fibre tubes for the legs and the centre column. All the central castings are made out of magnesium adding to the over all light weight and performance of the tripod.

Much like the aluminium 190XPROB the new 190CX has the innovative Q90° (quick centre column system).

The CX PRO versions include now the new tri faceted 100% carbon fibre tube slides with ease from the vertical to horizontal position, giving it the XPRO’s famed characteristic.

Manfrotto incorporates the new 3-layered rounded 100% FULL CARBON TUBES incl. Central Column for the PRO version for an improved rigidity and lightness.

The 190CX incorporates new angle selector levers that have been designed to improve ergonomics and the over all feel.

The top plate has also been changed. The PRO versions new magnesium top plate now incorporates a bubble to aid in levelling the tripod and camera. It also has been highly refined to create a very appealing design that also reduces weight.

The new ergonomic locking levers for the legs have been completely redesigned to improve the functionality. They are much easier to operate and become a seamless element of the tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:

Light and fairly easy to cart around.
Seems very rigid and solid, lovely quality. With joystick head attached It's just about ok strapped to my rucksack. Should I have bought the 4 section leg, possibly! I chose weight over compactness.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:

Been using this since just after christmas and have used it in conjunction with a nikon d90, kit lens and 35mm prime. It has seen various used from quick portait type shots through to multiple minute exposures and so far it has been solid with all.

It won't hold the weight and is a little less stable than the 055cx, however since i mainly do landscapes i have no need for the extra weight bearing capacity as my lenses are generally small.

My previous tripod was a velbon sherpa 550r and as a beginner tripod it was excellent, i have however now converted over to the frotto and am using it in conjunction with a ball head this time to great avail.

One other thing worth noting is the horizontally extending centre column, what a superb feature this is, it allows so much versatility which would otherwise be lost and all at the press of a button!

The legs lock out solid, the clips when open allow the legs to slide out nicely without sticking, weight and height wise it is barely noticeable on my rucksack. Just generally a quality bit of kit.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:

As with cameras, the best tripod is the one you have with you. I bought this tripod because my Manfrotto 055XPROB was getting left in the car, or at home, all too often.

This tripod certainly is much lighter and more compact than its big (aluminium) brother, not so much smaller and lighter that I take it absolutely everywhere, but it's with me a lot more than the 055.

But I still own the 055. Why? Well, with its legs fully extended and a heavy DSLR and lens sat on top, the 190CXPRO3 is noticeably less stable than the 055XPROB - it's far from unusable and gets better the shorter you keep the legs. So that's why it only gets four stars.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            Solid & Reliable

            By reynard

            from Herts, UK

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:

I purchased this tripod as a replacement for my very old 190 pro. The update to the centre column is wonderful. Although the old version was a good idea, I took the centre column out & left it out for 90% of the time because having to unscrew everything in order to re-position the colum was a pain. This new centre column appears to be the perfect solution. Added to that, the much reduced weight of the carbon fibre means I'll be using my tripod much more often instead of relying on fast lenses

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:

I've had many tripods in my time, but nothing stands up to this one. there has been mixed reviews that i have read but i bought this one about 6 months ago and never regreated it. Because of the different angles, highs and lows this tripod can achieve i use it for everything. there is no limit of use. From taking pics at floor level, seating or standing this will do it all.
