Camera Control Pro 2 - Control. This software remotely controls most functions of Nikon digital SLRs from a computer that is connected via USB cable or through wired or wireless LAN using a wireless transmitter. Advanced functions of the new Nikon D3 and D300 such as Viewer for preview and selection of images prior to transfer to a computer, Liveview function and Picture Control System are supported. It also supports workflows of Nikon’s exclusive photofinishing software Capture NX (optional) and browser and viewer software ViewNX. Nikon DSLR Compatibility: Nikon D3 & D300 - Supports wired or wireless LAN when used with wireless transmitter WT-4. D2 series (D2H, D2X, D2HS, D2XS) D1 series (D1, D1H, D1X) - D2X/D2HS/D2XS support wireless LAN when used with the WT-2. Windows Vista support currently not available Intel Mac: only Mac OS 10.4.9 supported. D200, D100, D80, D70 series (D70, D70S), D50, D40 series (D40, D40X) - D200 supports wired or wireless LAN when used with the WT-3.
Camera Control Pro 2 - Control
An upgraded version of the current Camera Control Pro will also be released simultaneously. Most settings of Nikon digital SLRs, that are connected via USB cable, such as exposure mode, shutter speed and aperture can be controlled remotely from a computer. Wired or wireless LAN is also available when using a wireless transmitter. In addition to direct transfer of images from a camera to a computer, all procedures from shooting to saving images are smoothly processed.
Viewer function enables thumbnail display of images stored in a computer. Images in a camera buffer can be confirmed with thumbnail or preview display on a computer prior to transferring, enabling deletion of unnecessary images. This remarkably increases efficiency. Supporting the Liveview mode (Hand-held mode and Tripod mode) of the D3 and D300, it permits adjustment of focus point and shutter release while confirming the image on a computer. In Tripod mode, focal-plane contrast AF on a desired point within a specific area is possible. It also supports Picture Control System of the cameras. Picture Control parameters can be selected and adjusted on a computer, and custom curves (tone compensation data) can be created and registered. 51-point AF can be controlled and displayed. Fine tuning of the new white balance is available.

Great Product, Tricky to Install

About Me Tech Savvy
Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2:
This product is a great for taking tether pictures. It allows you to control all your camera settings and to have a live view on your pc. I had previously used Adobe Lightroom4 for tethered capture but Nikon's own software gives a lot more camera control and Liveview would not work with Lightroom. This is a great function if you want to immediately see how your photos look on a bigger screen.Installation however was not as straight forward as I expected. The installation instructions were almost not existent. The main issue I came across was the product on the supplied CD was a much older version then the current release. I was installing on to a MAC with with OS X 10.8. However the as shipped Nikon software was not compatible with this and on the product key screens where you enter the licence key the software kept rejecting my licence code. Even calling the Nikon helpline did not resolve the problem. I wrongly assumed I had to register the product key before I could upgrade to the latest version. However once I realised that the product could be updated to the latest version before installing the product key then it installed properly.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have wanted to get the capability to remotely controlling my Nikon DLSRs since moving from Canon a couple of years ago. I have used this in a tethered setup photographing food in a restaurant allowing my clients to see exactly the results I was producing. As a wildlife photographer, it is very useful to set up a camera close to potential subjects while sitting comfortably in a hide or indoors. This software will do that with a USB extension cable. I have yet to try it but I intend mounting my camera on top of a 15m mast for some elevated photos.

Camera Control Pro 2 was on my wish list for some time, after trying the downloaded trial version, as I thought it would be great to use in the studio - images could be seen in more detail on the computer monitor and viewed by a number of people, and processing would be somewhat faster as the images were stored directly on the hard drive once taken.I finally purchased this product for a particular ëeventí type job - shooting tethered with Lightroom 2, and (virtually) instant printing using a Hi-touch printer, and a Mac Book Pro, and the whole set up worked perfectly.
Just right for tethered

If you need tethered connection from Nikon camera to Laptop or PC then this is the one for you.Automatically senses the camera. Allows you to set all settings from the PC which in Live View is a real boon.Speeds up operation in event photography or studio work, and makes getting the right shot easy.It is limited to 5 metre cable length so watch this if using USB cable. Much better for Wireless WiFi use.Watch out for filing photos as this program does not follow your camera file numbering so sort out a file structure that works for both tethered and memory cards.See the big picture .... chimping to the extreme !!

Nikon Camera Control Pro 2
Altough this piece of software was developed for in studio use I found that I needed something to control my D90 in the field. Most of my imageing is HDRI and the D90 only has the abilty to do a 2 stop AEB and there are many occasions where 9 stop AEB is required. After purchasing CCP 2 I realised that dragging a full size laptop with me into the field was somewhat a waste of time, the purchase of the Samsung NC10 resolved this and with CCP2 it has become my preferred workflow way of producing the images that suit my style and requirements. The CCP2 software looks pretty boring when you first run it, however when you get into the nitty gritty there is very little that it is not capable of, although you may feel tied to Nikon software, get past this feeling and you will realise that the cost of the software is more than reasonable.
