I have wanted to get the capability to remotely controlling my Nikon DLSRs since moving from Canon a couple of years ago. I have used this in a tethered setup photographing food in a restaurant allowing my clients to see exactly the results I was producing. As a wildlife photographer, it is very useful to set up a camera close to potential subjects while sitting comfortably in a hide or indoors. This software will do that with a USB extension cable. I have yet to try it but I intend mounting my camera on top of a 15m mast for some elevated photos.

Camera Control Pro 2 was on my wish list for some time, after trying the downloaded trial version, as I thought it would be great to use in the studio - images could be seen in more detail on the computer monitor and viewed by a number of people, and processing would be somewhat faster as the images were stored directly on the hard drive once taken.
I finally purchased this product for a particular ëeventí type job - shooting tethered with Lightroom 2, and (virtually) instant printing using a Hi-touch printer, and a Mac Book Pro, and the whole set up worked perfectly.

If you need tethered connection from Nikon camera to Laptop or PC then this is the one for you.
Automatically senses the camera. Allows you to set all settings from the PC which in Live View is a real boon.
Speeds up operation in event photography or studio work, and makes getting the right shot easy.
It is limited to 5 metre cable length so watch this if using USB cable. Much better for Wireless WiFi use.
Watch out for filing photos as this program does not follow your camera file numbering so sort out a file structure that works for both tethered and memory cards.

Altough this piece of software was developed for in studio use I found that I needed something to control my D90 in the field. Most of my imageing is HDRI and the D90 only has the abilty to do a 2 stop AEB and there are many occasions where 9 stop AEB is required. After purchasing CCP 2 I realised that dragging a full size laptop with me into the field was somewhat a waste of time, the purchase of the Samsung NC10 resolved this and with CCP2 it has become my preferred workflow way of producing the images that suit my style and requirements. The CCP2 software looks pretty boring when you first run it, however when you get into the nitty gritty there is very little that it is not capable of, although you may feel tied to Nikon software, get past this feeling and you will realise that the cost of the software is more than reasonable.
