The Nikon D4s continues the class-leading speed and accuracy found in the D4, offering a 51-point AF system (including 15 cross-type sensors and new group Area mode) and 11 fps continuous shooting with AE and AF maintained throughout the burst. With a newly developed 16.2 megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor combined with the power of EXPEED 4 image processing, the Nikon D4s can capture beautiful stills and Full HD movies at a standard ISO range of 100-25,600, which is expandable up to an incredible 50-409,600, taking low light shooting to another level. The fully weather-sealed metal body of the Nikon D4s is equipped with dual card slots (CF and XQD) and is engineered to keep today’s photographers in the field of sports, press and wildlife photography ahead of the game. Nikon D4s Product Tour
The FX-format flagship for professionals
The full-frame D4s builds upon the success of the class-leading features found in its predecessor, the D4. View the Nikon comparison chart for a spec overview of the D4 and D4s side by side.
16.2-MP FX-format sensor
The D4S’s revamped sensor offers the ultimate image quality. Boasts fast channel readout, wide dynamic range, and clean performance at high sensitivities.
Shoot crisper, cleaner, better-defined images at high ISOs. An expanded ISO range of 100–25600 is extendable up to an industry-leading 409600 (equivalent).
11 FPS with AF
The D4S offers improved acquisition and tracking performance. Fires at a blazing 11 fps in FX format with AE/AF superior to its predecessor (the D4).
Multi-CAM 3500FX 51-point AF system
The D4S takes the class-leading accuracy of the D4 and advances it further. The system is configurable in 9-point, 21-point, and 51-point coverage settings and sensitive down to -2 EV (ISO 100, 20 °C/68 °F). Advancements include improved lock-on, expanded ‘store by orientation’, and options for AF mode restrictions.
Group Area AF
Track fast-moving subjects over long distances with phenomenal precision. Group Area AF mode constantly monitors five different AF fields, offering improved acquisition and background isolation when shooting subjects that are comparatively small and close to a high-contrast or distracting background. The five-point AF area can be shifted across the 51-point array as composition demands.
Boosts the camera’s overall performance to a whole new level. Vastly improves image rendering and ISO performance, and allows higher frame rates when shooting movies.
For moviemaking in diverse conditions, D-Movie offers broadcast-quality video in multiple frame formats. The D4s records Full HD (1080p) movies in FX and DX format at 60p/50p/30p/ 25p/24p frame rates. Access the ISO range from ISO 200 up while filming and control shutter speed, aperture, and audio levels, too. It offers three sensor crop formats: FX, DX, and native crop (approximately 2.7x) as well as clean HDMI out.
Tough in the field
Protected by a tough, weather-sealed full metal body, the reliable and durable D4S sustains peak performance in the most demanding environmental conditions imaginable.
Built for speed, the D4S implements Gigabit 100/1000TX Ethernet port and offers a new RAW Size S option for extended continuous raw shooting and accelerated image transfer, plus compatibility with Nikon’s fast WT5 Wireless Transmitter.
Colour 3.2" monitor
Push the colour balance and brightness in any direction to suit your personal workflow preference. The anti-reflective 8.0 cm (3.2-in.), 921k-dot LCD monitor also offers auto brightness control.
Nikon has honed subtle details that make all the difference to handling when shooting on assignment. Changes include improved button layout and re-shaped control buttons to improve operation in damp conditions, as well as re-contoured thumb and middle finger rests and a smoother grip.
Fast durable shutter
When milliseconds matter, the D4S’s 42 ms shutter lag can gain you the critical edge. The Kevlar/carbon fiber–composite shutter unit is tested to 400,000 releases and a shutter speed of 1/8000 to 30 s, with flash synchronization at up to 1/250 s.
Stable viewfinder shooting
A new shutter and mirror mechanism delivers a stable viewfinder image during high-speed shooting. Image shake caused by mirror movement is effectively reduced with minimal viewfinder blackout.
The D4S offers uncompressed full-resolution HDMI output to external devices. You can simultaneously record full resolution HD movies in-camera and with an external recorder via HDMI, and an HDMI cable clip is provided with the camera for a secure connection.
High-fidelity audio control
With more options for audio control, the D4S offers improved sound recording. A stereo microphone input and an audio out let you fine tune audio levels in isolation both before and during recording. You can select the sound range (wide/voice), and wind noise can be reduced when recording with the built-in microphone.
3D Colour Matrix Metering III
Offers stable exposure control through the 91k pixel AE sensor. With selectable full-time face recognition function and smoother exposure alteration for improved results when shooting stills, movies, and time-lapse photography.
Spot White Balance metering
Determine White Balance even under challenging mixed lighting conditions. Easily acquire manual, preset White Balance data based on the selected area within the frame: the size of the area acquired can be retained even when the image is enlarged, and consecutive data acquisition is possible.
The colour rendering and tone curve have been refined for enhanced definition and additional depth in stills and movies. Picture Controls streamline in-camera image processing by enabling customisation of image parameters before capture, as well as complete control over sharpening, contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation in various colour modes.
High-capacity EN-EL18a battery
Ultra-compact and lightweight lithium-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh (10.8 V).
Storage media: Two card slots, one for high-speed CF (UDMA 7) cards, and one for high-speed, high-capacity XQD cards.

About Me Professional
Comments about Nikon D4s Digital SLR Camera Body:
Upgraded to this camera from Nikon D700 that had been an absolutely fantastic camera - rugged, durable, great picture quality and good low light performance. Needless to say the D4S is better in every respect! Amazing AF performance, fantastic low light performance, amazing speed. Yes it is expensive but if you need to rely on your camera in any weather, any light conditions, at any time then this is the body for you. Mine is used largely for agricultural photography and environmental portraiture - often in inclement conditions - both on land and at sea. It just works brilliantly every time - thoroughly recommended!

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
As an owner of a D800 it seemed a natural progression to invest in the D4s, some of the buttons are located in a different place but a trivial issue and one that in a short time will be conquered!Focus is ultra quick, ISO options impressive, shutter speed all I can wish for.
Excellent low light performance.
Good professional grade SLR, rugged all weather DSLR. Good low light performance and the focus is extremely fast, 11 fps a bonus. Feature rich and well balanced. Dual card slots with differencr cards is a mistake and I would liked to have seen increased resolution over the D4 but these are minor gripes really.

Never Looked Back
Ever since the D4S was announced I wanted one, even though I'm not a professional. Took a few months thinking about, but took the plunge. Best thing I ever did. I can see why a lot of professionals have snapped this camera up.I get far more usable images from this camera than I ever did from the D800.Yes it is a heavy camera especially with a 70-200mm 2.8G VRII lens, but the results you get make it worth the ache and pain at the end of a long day walking around London.

This is one hell of a camera as you would expect given its pretty much top of the heap in the Nikon range at the moment. The image quality is magnificent the menu systems and functionality easy if you are already used to the Nikon system. Especially useful I find is the auto continuous focus and metering at 11 FPS, which for bird in flight shots is immense, you simply can't fail to get the shot.I moved with some trepidation from the D800 to this camera some 2 months ago, I must say I don't regret the move.

This is a superb camera that really is a joy to use. I've owned it for a couple of months and have used it to take family portraits at home and at a wedding , action shots of people playing on a beach, and wild cats in a conservation centre. Picture quality is beautiful. It is possible to shoot at up to ISO 8000 indoors with no flash and achieve very usable results. Higher ISOs still produce reasonable results. Add a speedlight and the results are dazzling. It's true that the camera is heavier than most but I used it all day at the wild cat centre mostly with a 70-200 f2.8 and it was very comfortable, even with the speedlight on, and I'm certainly no bodybuilder. Apart from the high ISO performance, stand-out features are the autofocus speed and tracking capabilities and the astonishing frame rate. All of which combine to enable pin-sharp pictures of moving subjects at high shutter speeds. I upgraded from a D700 which was a brilliant camera, but the D4s is in an altogether higher league and I'm very pleased I made the change. The only negative comment I would make is that it is obviously a very expensive camera.
