5 Year Warranty. Tamron's 60mm Macro Lens has been designed specifically for DSLRs with an APS-C sized sensor and is the first lens of this type with a maximum aperture of f/2. The lens can be used as close as 10cm away from the subject and, thanks to its internal focus mechanism, the front element does not move when focusing, so it is less likely to scare away the more flighty of macro subjects. The f/2 aperture gives a beautifully shallow depth of field and out of focus areas appear naturally soft. This characteristic combined with an equivalent focal length of 93mm means that the Tamron 60mm Macro also makes an excellent portrait lens. With 1:1 life-size reproduction opening up whole new worlds of photography, the Tamron SP AF 60mm f2 Di II LD (IF) Macro will be a welcome addition to any photographer's camera bag. More
Di II lenses are constructed for the exclusive use on digital SLR cameras with smaller-size imagers (not bigger than 16x24mm) and featuring optical systems optimized to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras including:
Macro photography is the reproduction of small objects from a magnification ratio of approx. 1:4 up to about 5:1 (at which point microphotography begins). Life-size, or 1:1 reproduction, means that the lens is able to project onto the image sensor (which corresponds to film in a film camera) an image of an object that is the same size as the object itself.
LD - Low Dispersion
LD Elements are produced of special glass materials which possess an extremely low color dispersion index (a unit which measures the ability of a glass to separate a beam of light in its spectral colors). LD elements compensate for chromatic aberration, which is particularly a problem with telephoto lenses. Chromatic aberration is a form of optical noise which reduces the sharpness and the brilliance of an image.
IF - Internal Focus
Lenses of customary design have a front lens group which shifts when focusing. Internal focus lenses reach the sharp position by shifting (an) inner lens element(s). Here Tamron has developed the so-called Integrated Focus Cam which allows quick and exact focusing. Moreover, the MFD can also be reduced with the internal focusing, as well as image defects like vignetting. Another advantage is the stationary focus-ring regardless of the zoom position. The front element of the lens also does not turn which is important when using filters which dependent on direction (e.g., polarization filters).

What a fab lens
By Billy parrot
I looked at the Nikon 105mm vr and the Nikon 60mm and the cost, then i saw the new Tamron 60mm F2 i have had the 90mm in the past and it was good but not has good as the 60mm the 60mm never changes it's length when focusing it is good in auto focus in most situations but i usuly use manual focus when shooting macro while on the subject of manual focus you just move the switch that is on the side from auto to manual and you have no changing to do on camera, the only other thing i can say it is brill and if that is the size of lens you are looking for then get one borought and start using it.
