The Vanguard GH-300T Grip Ball Head is a pistol grip ball head with built-in remote shutter release trigger on the handle. This innovative design enables you to keep your eye on the subject while giving you full control over the shutter to ensure you never miss a shot. This sort of set up is ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects, even while making zoom lens adjustments. To operate in bulb “B” mode, simply slide the release trigger mechanism upward to manually control exposure time by depressing the release trigger. It is able to hold 6KG in weight and comes with a universal 2.5mm DC shutter release cable input jack plus two cables compatible with 80% of digital SLRs on the market. It also features two axes for panning: a 72-clickpoint panning base just below the camera mounting plate for perfectly aligned panoramic images, and a second 360-degree panning base at the tripod mounting base for horizontal panning and following subjects in motion. The GH-300T uses Arca Swiss compatible quick realease plates. More
The GH-300T provides smooth movements with impressive ergonomic control, thanks to its anodized centre ball and Grip Position Release system. With a locking force rated for over 17.5 lbs., GH-300T supports standard and large zoom lenses with impressive security. Its universal, 38mm quick release system with clamp knob and safety pin is compatible with other 38mm systems and allows for micro adjustments forward and backward while providing a steady center of gravity and no worries of accidental release. The GPR System with pistol grip-style handle lets you unlock, reposition and lock gear into place with ease. Depression of the handle allows 360-degrees of panning movement and -32 to +90-degrees of side-to-side tilt and -8 to +90-degree back to front tilt movement all round. It instantly locks into place by simply releasing the handle.
Its Friction Control System allows you to modify the level of resistance on the ball to accommodate changing equipment weight.
GH-300T’s handle also rotates 360 degrees to one of 8
positions for maximum comfort while shooting.

Comments about Vanguard GH-300T Grip Ball Head:
Bought this after suffering the downside of a 3 way...... Quickly re-sighting.Wish I had started off with this, variable friction, smooth, all directions, plus angle locking and degree markings for panoramas. A lot of though has been put into this to cater for all aspects of tripod shooting.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good solid tripod head
I've used this now 5-6 times on location. It seemed ideal when I saw the description, The pistol grip with attachment to the camera release has been around for years but this certainly is a cleaver adaptation of the idea. The mechanics of the ball head are good, a well made bit of kit with good adjustment for locking, rotation etc. As with all ball heads a heavy weight camera/lens combo will test it to the limits when flipping 90 degrees but with a tripod collar its not an issue. My unit came with 5 options for camera connections, so I'm guessing near 95% of equipment is covered. My Nikons certainly were. The trigger option has to be the big feature that will draw you to this item, my feeling is DSLR video might have more use for this feature than just photography, If there was a way the trigger could move your focus point in a joy stick manner it would be perfect, but it can't so you still have to access that via the camera, meaning you are closer to on camera shutter button with that hand while making focus point adjustments! Auto tracking/3D etc might help with tracking fast/erratic objects this unit might then come into its own. I do like the concept, overall its a good bit of kit but think how you use your camera as to how likely the trigger is going to be useful to you.
