The Lightwave 80 ED-R F6.25 Refractor is a portable telescope for imaging and visual use. The F6.25 ED doublet optics feature an Ohara S-FPL53 ED element and Schott glass mated element, delivering high contrast elements with good colour correction. The dual speed rack and pinion focuser with a 1:10 ratio fine adjustment knob provides accurate and easy focusing to ensure images are sharp at the eyepiece, or on your camera CCD chip (focusing is especially easy in "live view mode" on a DSLR).
Lightwave 80 ED-R Refractor: Key Features
80mm Doublet, with Ohara Synthetic Fluorite FPL-53 ED lens element and Schott mated element, 500mm focal length.
Max practical power 160x (approx.)
540mm folded length, weight approx. 3.4kg
Dual Speed 1:10 ratio "Rack 'n Pinion" focuser with internal baffling.
M54x0.75mm rear thread > 2" push-fit adapter with 3x clamping screws and brass compression ring included.
Black travel case with foam inner padding.
Optional M48 male-thread imaging adapter, compatible with Altair M48 variable spacers or a DSLR M48 adapter.
Base plate enabling use of Altair 1.75" / 44.5mm format dovetail bars or larger 3" / 76.2mm format format Dovetail plates, for maximum compatibility with various mounts.
Colour aberrations are almost invisible with well corrected eyepieces, and the 80mm F6.25 ED lens system has a tried and tested track record in the field of astro photography. Adding a rack and pinion focuser, and a high quality baffled CNC machined optical tube, results in a more refined telescope which is a joy to own.
8x steel roller bearings support the focuser tube along it's length, making the focuser more rigid than focusers of comparable size, while keeping the overall optical tube as light as possible. A rack 'n pinion gear improves the "lifting power" of the focuser, making it similar to a large Crayford, but keeping weight and size down to fulfill the portability requirement. The included aluminium-finish carry case is padded with protective foam, and protects the scope for travel.
Daytime use: Astronomy isn't all this scope is capable of. In fact, this multi-purpose instrument outperforms spotting scopes costing many times the price with ease when an astro eyepiece is used with the optional Lightwave 1.25" or 2" 45 degree erect image prism diagonals. (Product codes LW-125-45-DIAG or LW-2-45-DIAG.)
Adapters: The rear of the focuser sports a M54x0.75mm thread, enabling direct connection of several cameras and filter wheels and keeping the aperture as clear as possible. The telescope includes an M54x0.75mm to standard 2" push-fit adapter enabling the use of standard astro 2" eyepieces and diagonals to come to focus. What's more, the adapter has 3x clamping screws (one thumbscrew and two slotted) with 120 degree separation, to ensure a rigid connection and a tight grip on your visual or imaging accessories. To make the system even more compatible with modern imaging equipment, an optional M54x0.75mm to M48x0.75mm (e.g. Standard filter thread) adapter is also available. This lets you screw the Altair M48 variable spacer system directly to the focuser, to connect M48 CCD cameras, filter wheels and field flatteners, or your digital SLR via any standard M48 DSLR camera adapter.
Mounts: For imaging, this telescope enables you to use a very light weight mount indeed so just about any mount from about EQ5 size upwards will do, and unguided exposures are possible provided you polar align accurately. For visual use or solar observing, this telescope is an ideal companion for the iOptron Cube PRO and this would be an airline portable package similar in size to a medium camera zoom lens.

Can I repay early? If so how?
No repayments are scheduled in the initial six-month deferral period. However, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, but a £29.00 early-settlement will be incurred. Such repayments may be made to Barclays Partner Finance by cheque, debit card or standing order. Unfortunately it is not possible to set up a direct debit within the deferral period. Further information on how to make such repayments will be set out in the loan agreement pack provided by Barclays Partner Finance.
What happens if I don't repay within the first six months (deferral period)?
Following the six month deferral period, Barclays Partner Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 19.9% APR on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Late payment penalties and early repayment charges will apply from this point. Barclays Partner Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six month deferral period is due to elapse. Note: If you chose to spread the cost and pay monthly, interest is charged from the start of the loan, not from the start of the repayment period.
What will I receive from the finance provider (lender)?
Barclays Partner Finance will send a loan agreement pack approximately four weeks after delivery of the goods, confirming that the account has been activated and, from this point, it is possible to make repayments against the loan.
